Are our data safe at all?

Facebook knows our date of birth, and our location, has our pictures and videos, shares our moments, and also brings us closer to friends we might know. Then it’s obvious that they have all of our data in their database. This is Facebook owned by someone having the data of almost everyone around the globe in their database. So why shouldn’t the government of a nation have theirs?

Data is so important that any organization should always make sure to have one with them. If an organization fails to have the data of its workers or everyone in the organization then there is always a higher chance of collapsing with time.

This is because data of each individual is important for us to recognize everyone with their unique identity. Not having the data of everyone in their database is putting them at risk of experiencing scams and fraud. So there is always an importance to databases.

Do you wonder why your bank and network providers are among the first to send you a birthday message?

Schools get the data of their wards right from the very first day of registration till when they finally leave the premises and they are handing over everything right over their data back to them. In the Army, there is data for every soldier, in companies and industries there is data for each worker, banks and network providers have the data of every customer using their services. This is to track and monitor the activities of each worker.

The federal government also has its database. And this is where they keep the data of every citizen of the country. A country without databases could hardly be addressed as a country. How can the government perform its duties to each citizen without databases?

There is no big deal in all of these sectors, organizations, and institutions, having our data in their custody. But the question is how are they handling our data?

There was a case I heard about where a wealthy man who got tracked and kidnapped, was asked to release a certain amount of money he had on him, if not he would be no more. He had to send all of the funds he had at that moment, at some point the transactions got restricted because of the daily limit transfer.

The culprit asked him to release his PIN code and every other details of the bank account, which he did. At the end of it all, this man was shot dead. To cut the story short, no one knew the cause of their death, but at some point, they got to investigate the cause of his death and then realized that the money transferred from his account was sent to the account of one of his household help who knew almost everything about him.

So from this, it is clear that there are certain merits and demerits to having one’s data exposed.

Having his data with the banks made it easier to investigate and track the culprit. If there were no database then I guess the criminal act would have gone smoothly without any fireback on them.

Another aspect to show how important data are, the culprits couldn’t access the account until they got the victim's data.

So once our data remains secured and safe, be it personally, or inclined with some private organizations or with the federal government, there shouldn’t be any backsliding from having them.

But once these data are safe and insecure, then I can tell that there would be a lot of casualties erupting from the insecurity that was caused.

However, there are hackers and scammers always trying to bridge into databases. But when they are well secured such cases should rarely happen.

In conclusion, just like every other aspect of life has its merits and demerits. So does our data too. So it's kind of important for the government to have an eye on our data.

Facebook knows us more than even our parents if you ask me. Because everything of ours was out there on Facebook those days. Our feelings, our friends, videos we like and all of that.

Our data is really not safe out there if you ask me.

Yeah it’s not safer but we keep hoping it gets secured. And we should also trying not to be the victim ourselves.

I agree with you. Everyone should protect himself out there.

Indeed there are benefits to the federal government having the database of its citizens for good documentation.

Yes there are disadvantages but like you said the advantages are more because most organizations are very careful with these information and now we have the ability to control some of the information we give to them.

That’s just it. Safety with all of these data is what matters
