Once Zara returns home, she’s greeted by the unwelcome presence of her ex-partner’s new wife who coldly informs her that financial assistance is off the table. This disheartening visit highlights Zara’s loneliness and plight as a struggling single mother trying to care for her son, Dominic.

In a starkly different yet equally troubled environment, a shelter emerges as a community grappling with the fallout from an apocalyptic event. A narrator sheds light on the people’s daily routines, from breakfast to exercises, and their reliance on generators for heat and light since the sun has become dangerously radioactive. Within this makeshift community, both Zara and Dominic find themselves navigating life under dire circumstances.
