However, extensive studies, including one published in JAMA in 2024 involving over 2.4 million siblings, have shown no definitive correlation between acetaminophen use during pregnancy and autism. While small studies have suggested possible links, the large-scale data does not support such concerns. Interestingly, despite declining prenatal acetaminophen use (from approximately 70% to around 60%), autism prevalence rates have continued to climb, indicating no clear causative relationship.
