Hi,

you might have read from me in the past, like in this post about philosophy, I'm a big fan of German thinkers of the enlightenment age, even some of the pre and after ones.

One that I really like is Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche, who lived between 1844 and 1900. I like his unedited works, which have been edited by his sister, Elisabeth, to fit her ultranationalist views. On the contrary, because she had the views she had, Friedrich Nietzsche, didn't even attend her wedding.

He was the youngest person to hold the Chair of Classical Philology at the University of Basel in 1869 at the age of 24. This is amazing, as most people don't know what to do at that age. He also stopped working early, as he might have had encountered Syphilis, which have led to his dismiss.

Nevertheless, his works are a breakthrough, in both good and bad, yes, also bad, as without him, a Marx might have been delayed and so many unnecessary deaths could have been sparred.

What I personally like is the doubt of good and evil, morality and what would be the sense of power in a human being. It goes deep into these topics, which sometimes might be disturbing, and the notion of Übermensch, the one that acts on his own will, not on the will of the society. Like today, he blamed the media of creating obedient sheep. I will not get further in, as we have a lot o people, also today, that take this media thing to extreme, and become also sheep, but from the other side of things.

All the Abrahamic religions (Judaism, Christianity, and Islam), have some forced moral code on humanity. If you ignore it, and you go your own way, you experience freedom and if you do good without thinking about the religious moral dogma, you are the Übermensch. Put yourself first, as an individual, and grow from there. He had the concept that we should reject traditional values and beliefs and instead create our own values and meanings in life. This, in his views, is achieved by continuous learning and development and with the embracement of chaos, change, and pain in our lives.

How about you? Do you like philosophy? If yes, which philosopher? If no, what do you like?

Happy Birthday to the Hive Blockchain

I've been listening to podacasts on Nietzsche for the last couple of days thanks to this post, from his critique of Christianity to the idea of finding yourself.

Thanks for this.
