What the hell is Calendar Threading?

in LeoFinance11 months ago (edited)

Threads is microblogging on the Hive blockchain, and it is the latest feature on LeoFinance. This feature's focus is to smoothen and simplify the conversion of web3 users into web3 users, and it's working.

Threads looks exactly like Twitter, and anyone with a Twitter account can create a LeoFinance account in 15 seconds without worrying about their Keys, understanding blockchain, being familiar with crypto or any other complicated matter related to web3.

Sending a Thread is as easy as sending a Tweet because both interfaces are very similar, but the former lives in the Hive Blockchain, where content is immutable, self-owned, and tokenizable.

Enter Calendar Threading

One of the initiatives we have over at Threads is Calendar Threading.

This is a prompt for Lions who love Threads to have a daily topic to generate conversations, create engagement and meet other people who have similar interests as them.

The topics are very simple and easy to write a Thread about:

Pick one topic per day

For the uninitiated:

mememonday - Share a meme that made you laugh.
moneymonday - Anything related to investments, purchases, expenses, budgets, research you are doing... Anything money.

naturetuesday - Landscapes, gardening, homesteading, mountains, farming, your plants, a picture from your last hiking adventure, your trip to the lake... anything nature!
techtuesday - Anything related to technology, it can be something you found online, something you want to buy, a software you are using, anything related to programming and much more!

petwednesday - Do I need to say more? Share a pic of your pet, or someone else's pet! Add some context, give us some info!
gamingwednesday - Do you play videogames, board games, chess or any other type of game? This is your chance to include pics and text and share about it!

travelthursday - A trip you made, you want to make, or will make. Share some details and info on the picture, we want to learn from your traveling!
cryptothursday - This one doesn't need explanation, right?

foodiefriday - Ser, if you are still reading this you might not be ready for calendar threading... share a pic of your recent cooking, a recipe, your latest dish... anything food related!
musicfriday - This one is my favorite, let's embed a video on Threads and tell us why you love that song so much! Let's flood Threads with our favorite music!

satartday - This one is about ART. Share your most recent art piece, and art piece of a friend (if they are on Hive, share their post and tag the author as a reply to the Thread!), your favorite art piece... Tell us a little bit about the art!
beersaturday - Beer and drinks related because it is Saturday!

sundayfunday - Anything goes, share a picture of the fun you are having and some text as context! Sundays are also for the family, so you can share a picture of your family activity or your loved ones having fun!
sundaysports - If you are a sports fan, either playing or watching, this is the perfect day to share something about sports.

The point is simple:
1- Preferably, share an image you own on Threads related to one of the daily topics. If your Thread doesn't require images that's fine, but it's better to have pics! If you don't own the picture, add the source in a reply to the thread!
2- Add a description, a text, a thought, or anything related to the image.
3- Use the Tag of the Day.
4- If you have a post, or you found a post on Hive, you can share the post as a reply to the main Thread (never in the first Thread).

You can also share a thread for each topic, just make sure to make them separate Threads!

That's it, you are now Calendar Threading!

Some examples here:

#mememonday

#moneymonday

#naturetuesday

#techtuesday

#petwednesday

#gamingwednesday

#travelthursday

#musicfriday

I think you get the point...

What do you think? Give me your most honest feedback!

Do you like the idea, do you like the prompts/topics? Would you chance anything?

Age of Mythology doesn't belong on the shelf. Get back amongst it.
Temper shrek. You weigh ear.

I got AoM mostly because I remember it was a great game back then but I prefer AoE, no question there. I played it a little bit back then but I haven't had the time to give it another try :(

Its so well balanced. My mate and I spent many nights LAN'd up, sending crocodiles, minotaurs and elephants at each other.

Nice Idea to increase activities on LeoFinance

It definitely has increased the activity, I just wonder if it will stick once the Adoption campaign is over.

Let's hope

Tbh.. I've enjoyed the calender threading because it has in another way proffer ideas for me to thread about...
It looks like a good guide to what you can write about your day.

That's the main idea and I'm glad Lions like it, gives people a reason to Thread and jumps over the process of picking a topic to thread about, glad you like it.

A calendar to guide threaders on the right path. Terrific.

Does this mean that we can't thread about any other thing outside the things assigned on the calendar?

Oh no, it just means that if you can't think of something to Thread about, you can always use the daily prompt to start a conversation! If you are a good Threader then you will not need the calendar (but it's always nice to use it to support the idea haha).

For a minute I thought threading won't be flexible any more, haha. If that's the case, then the calendar is an amazing initiative.

Hahaha no, no need to steer the wheel when Lions already got the hold of Threads perfectly, this is just an excuse to thread without having to come up with a topic!

I do like the idea of it and it gives something for everyone to talk about. If anything I'd like to see it on the side bar with the hash tags under trending as thread of the day or something. At least to start out so there's more awareness about it and people interacting with it. I feel that would give more depth and meaning to many of the threads people are making and keep things fresh.

Perhaps one day would be random and announced such as a popular news, update etc that's happening. This would build community and awareness for now while the community is still on the smaller side of things and could be adjusted and changed after it grows.

This is a great idea, I had though of something similar but yours works better, I already wrote it in the ideas notepad and I'm definitely stealing it without giving any credit :P

But on a more serious note, there's also the idea of doing something like for Long form posts, so we can make noise in web2 by writing about current events and share those on Twitter and piggyback ride the hashtags, the only problem is that it requires speed from Lions to make the most out of trends. This idea is from @idiosyncratic

Nice for sure Articles still have a heavy weight in terms of the traction they can get from SEO and shouldn't be underestimated. Writing up a post on medium along with a host of other web2 article based sites that have a similar idea to what hive/leo is all about could make for some good traction. Also these articles if ranked would continue to drive traffic for a while

Nice buy on $sonne it sums up my entire crypto life 😂

Dude don't even mention it, I am down 75% and I didn't put in 100 bucks, this one really stung

Calendar threading is fun and I love the idea. It makes people share amazing things especially when they are lost for ideas on what to write. I never know one could take a picture which is not yours as long as one source it. I had thought it should be an original photo of yours. Thanks for the clarification.

Yes, I think it is ten times better to use your own pics, but sometimes you just don't have one! For example I made a thread today about a destination I want to visit, so I don't really have pics of the place yet, so I used a pic from the interwebz

I have already made some of them. It is a good initiative to generate content
In my opinion I think they should curate the most original ones.of the day.

Yes, we are looking for ways to reward users on Threads, but the truth is that Threads can be the way to earn an audience while having fun, so the long form content gets more rewards. Splitting the rewards from long form and short form sounds like over complicating things, but who knows, we'll have to put more thought into this

Obviously I like the idea. Among of all I like the #travelthursday more

That one anf #foodiefriday are definitely the easiest ones and more fun ones for sure

Rallying around topics is a great idea IMO.

I'd try to keep the prompts fresh, and always offer two per day. That way the topics can compete which adds another layer of fun.

The main "problem" I think is in when people misuse the tag, either out of sheer ignorance or maybe maliciously. But it's the Internet, and you can't really stop this, especially on this platform, haha. There are definitely ways the frontend could try to code in systems to cut down on flagrant tag misuse (for calendars or otherwise), but I dunno if that would align with the values of a web3 based platform nor be a good way to spend dev energy.

I'd try to keep the prompts fresh, and always offer two per day. That way the topics can compete which adds another layer of fun.

You are so right and its the main driver to adding an extra topic, so it gives options and maybe even create some clans of some sort haha

On changing topics I dunno, maybe it is better that eventually people know what the topic of the day is without having to check the calendar? If it changes, it means they have to check on the new topic, if it's static, it becomes easier and probably even part of the routine.

Maybe having the permanent two topics and an extra one on top that is related to current events, and have that one pinned on the right side as topic of the day? What say you

I like that balance. Two standards plus a rotator, and maybe invite the community occasionally to vote on new rotators. Having the UI display the "tags of the day" could also be fun, and maybe eventually these tags could be discounted from the organic trending and have their own little scoreboard (e.g. make them different colours or live in a separate box?)

The rotator slot can also be a tool for partner promotions. XYZ project buys 2 rotators a week for 2 months for Z price... 🤔

Who doesn't check calendar to see what's booked for the day. 🤣
Calendar threading gives us a lead on what to thread about so it's

At one point I would hope that people get so familiar with the calendar that they don't even need to check it to be able to thread about the daily topic!

That's also why I tried to use wordplay and make them catchy, I hope they stick!

Yes I gat the point, in my next calendar thread I will share an interesting image, making thread more fun, thank you for the tips

Exactly! The point is to have fun and to give some color and visuals to Threads!

Wow I really love this calendar threading,it makes you know what topic to write about even when you don't know what to write and apart from that,I think the topics are perfect for each day, very unique.

What do you think about the wordplay, are they easy to remember?

I don't see anything bad in it, for me it's okay and it definitely another means of increasing engagement in the community, but I will suggest people do more of uploading of what it entails, rather than using the tag alone

Yes I've seen some people just use the tag for random, unrelated threads which defeats the whole purpose of using the tag, hopefully this post will help everyone do it right!

I love this calendar topic on threads. I want to know, if one is unable to get the picture of a particular thing like pet, travel or farm, can the person still make the threads?
#feedback

Yes they can, the picture is not mandatory but it is ten times better to include one. That being said, you can always include a picture you don't own and include the source in the thread below.

Thank you.

Not sure about the time zone issue, generally I'm a big believer in #gm memes

7n0nfu.jpg

Probably true, but then again, even if you see a wednesday topic and it's still tuesday for you, that tells you where the other person is and might even add an extra layer of topics to talk about

That sounds delicious

It's a good guide if you have no idea what to talk about. I also think the decision to include several variants each day is a good one.

Personally it's a good time to share my AI creations with lions in the different #tags.

Exactly, AI can play a nice role here if you don't have a picture you own and don't want to take one from the interwebz.

That's what I meant, having more than one a day. In this post you propose 2 topics per day but in Zealy's campaign there is only 1 per day.

The topic of the day is another excellent contribution for those days when we have some news or special event.

PS: I'm coordinating a meeting between you and a non-hive crypto project, if you know what I'm talking about 😉.

I love the Calendar Threading as it gives a variety of topic each day. And it's good indeed if we own the photos we attach to them as it is more personal. Photos do attract attention and people tend to engage more. Thank you for coming up with this fun idea.

Exactly, pics add an extra layer to the conversation and it is way easier to engage with other people if there are visuals! Thank you for using it and spreading it!

I think calendar threading is a quest that should be everyday. After #zealy campaign maybe not anymore everyday but now it´s a nice way to control the use of tags.

That's the good part of Calendar Threading, it will exist even after the adoption campaign and it is up to the community to keep the concept alive!

That's good to hear! Now I know that this quest will be forever!

I think it is one of the most popular #threads. I like including photos as it is (at least once a week) where we get to share photos. Let's face it, there are some amazing photos used in #threads! Photo also helps to bring engagement as concretizes ideas when one is limited by words in short form.
It is wonderful to add a second choice. I noticed that the second choice is focus of LeoFinance. Very good!
I like the daily Calendar Thread. If it is the only thing one can do (because of a busy schedule), it is so worth coming to #threads and keep up with the engagement.

Photo also helps to bring engagement as concretizes ideas when one is limited by words in short form.

Exactly, it is ten times easier to engage with someone else if they share a picture along some text.
And yes, if a user is low on time, they can always come, talk about the daily topic and then move on :D

I have tried threads a few times and it has been hit and miss as they work out the bugs. I was never a big Twitter person to begin with, but the whole calendar threading does seem interesting and fun. May just give it a try once I get more organizaed.

Takes little time, adds some fun and you help Leo grow in the meantime! I hope to see you coming back mate!

I do enjoy the calendar threading! Fortunately, I can come up with something to thread but having a "daily task" gives me the urge to give something nice about that topic, especially when I have so many pictures on my phone that I can share! Would be cool to have it somewhere on the IU like a "tag of the day".

Hahaha I know, you can really be a Thread machine when you have the time and you are not busy recording your clients hahaha

Yes exactly, I think threads can be a great place to share our camera roll without having to worry about format, length, text etc.

Would be cool to have it somewhere on the IU like a "tag of the day".

This is very valuable feedback, thank you we will keep this in mind!

It's great to have something to talk about every day, and including an image makes it much more eye-catching than a simple empty thread.

The good thing is that you can browse what other users wrote for the day. Interesting to interact.

It's a self growing features, the more people use it, the more others will adopt it and then one day everyone knows the topic of the day and evryone joins in the fun!

I really enjoy topics, as they serve as a trigger to say something when we're not feeling very creative. However, I would like to have more than one topic option per day. It's not always possible for someone to talk about a specific subject, and having another option would give two chances for someone to post something. Please consider it!

the first i checked the idea it was perfect. Engaging with such innovative way of thinking to diversify threads, for sure it will nice.
But other than that i always had this question.
(never in the first Thread).
Why it’s not recommended to share posts in the thread and only in the reply?

Themes can be a good incentive to interact, I think a film Friday could be included. Changing topics is also important, it is not good to have the same topic every day, it ends up being tedious.

You should continue to invest in incentives for $LEO to keep promoting them, perhaps through communities or people of high reputation, make small contests and challenges from time to time to continue to capture the attention of those who are already in Hive, then there will come a point that this is not necessary.

Calendar threading is fun and a good idea. However, I am only a little concerned about Meme Monday.
Posting meme images could be copyright infringement in some cases. This is not so much of a problem on the Internet in general, but since Leofinance or HIVE are web 3.0 and rewarding (and easy to see from the outside), I think we should be cautious.

Its a known fact that Thread is like twitter but it have more enhanced features. Having unique topics per day gives a wonderful hints for a day. With this hint, several threads of diverse and wonderful contents makes Thread a wonderful place for all and more engagement encouraged.

I think it's a good idea, because that way we have more topics to talk about, and we can interact in other people's threads, besides they are simple topics and related to all people. What I would like is that every week is a different one, for example not every Monday I have to talk about memes or a topic related to money, I would like every Monday to make a thread about a different topic...
In general I think the calendar is a very good idea and a very good initiative.

I think the calendar threading is a good idea, it is innovative and it helps in starting up a great communication. We can have fun and share it with others...

I like the calendar very much.

Maybe weekly you could request new themes for the week and make a special mention to those who proposed the selected ones?!

I think that something that will make a difference or could make a difference in Threads, is the possibility for users to interact with those who lead this project.

Providing suggestions, and participating... makes us feel it as our own and we get more and more involved.

I like the idea. It's more was easy to think about what to post. Just a few topics to choose from. Anyway, I'm not yet into threads. How to join?

Calendar threading to me, is a very fun initiative. It first of all boosts one's engagement and it is also an opportunity to learn about each other's cultures and lifestyle as well. Without this initiative some wouldn't have shared about their personal life on threads. So overall, I think it's quite interesting.

I like the ideas of the prompts, what I would like is more on the user side, to use them no iniciate conversation and not just drop a picture with a tag, or a thread that has nothing to do with thetag but they still use it because it's the tag of the day.

I also would like in the options more finace related ideas, just because I knwo there is people that don't want to leave it aside and I would like to see more of that content too, to keep learning.

This looks legit. Thanks for sharing and enjoy some !PIZZA 🍕

It requires time to assimilate the prompt into our consciousness. Personally, though I appreciate the daily themes, I think it's a lack of creativity on my part that I have difficulty finding the right post on a daily basis.

Calendar Threading is a great starter, especially for those moments when you just don’t know what to write (writer‘s block). They should be somehow somewhere on the UI shown as a reminder and to let people know what the actual „official“ or accepted calendar tags of the day are, maybe in a box above the trending tags. You use a lot more in this post than there are in the list in the calendar quests. In the quests there‘s always the same list with one tag each day. Is this just a suggestion and open to whatever i make up for the days or is there kind of an „official“ list of accepted tags?

Edit: Ha, just saw todays calendar quest and now there are two tags per day :)

I've never even heard of Threads, but this, "Threads looks exactly like Twitter, and anyone with a Twitter account can create a LeoFinance account in 15 seconds without worrying about their Keys, understanding blockchain, being familiar with crypto or any other complicated matter related to web3."

is the most important thing you said about it. Until it is like this for Hive and other Web3 products, mass adoption will never and I mean never, happen.

I didn't notice a link to threads in your post by the way.

Cg

I believe some threaders are blunt on what to thread on some times. Therefore, the calendar threading gives a clue on what to do on thread. And it is helping thread grow beyond normal. So it is a good idea. I love it personally and I believe many others love it too. So let's keep it going.

I think this calendar threading is perfect. It gives us tings to thread about when we don't have any. I think the problem now is that, the link to the image takes up most of the word count

What a creative idea I must confess . I feel it brings a sense of modulation to threading on here . It can also be a perfect way to start amazing conversations on here . Let's keep the hashtags coming!

I really love it. I have been following up on some prompt on a daily basis and it’s enjoyable.

Sine we can’t participate in all. Like the aspect of gaming and tech. Not really everyone has an idea but still there are other calendars to tick out. I suggest If coukd be more hashtags to make it two options per day.

We had similar threads on campaign already but now with more gamification this has become even better and fun. Like the idea

I think this is one of the greatest invention in threads. We can get daily topic to threads with our unique style.

Awesome post on Calendar Threading. Honestly, one of the most daunting tasks for any writer is not even writing itself, it's coming up with a topic to write about. The method would really help writers by applying a bit of foundation or structure to their writing. It's better than being in the dark on what to write about.
