After proper consideration and observing the trends of the market, I've decided that I'll never buy a Profile picture NFT again.
I've minted a couple of profile picture NFTs in recent times, and for the most part, I had no particular reason to mint them.
The first one I ever minted was Hive punk and I've held on to three of them since I got them. I honestly have no clue what to do with them.
For what it's worth, when I got the punks, I actually thought they'd be used for something. I didn't think they'd just be sitting in my wallet.
Other than punks, I also have Hive folks NFT of @taskmaster4450 that has also been sitting in my wallet for a while. There's not been any talk of further development in the project.
I was hoping there'd be a game or some project surrounding the Hive folks NFT. Unfortunately, there's not been word about further developments but I'll keep checking.
I also bought a Splinterlands Dice NFT gif but that one was just random. Almost immediately after I bought it, the floor price dropped hard. I only paid for it because I thought it was cool.
Finally, I have one if those Hive Bee NFTs in my inventory. I got that one for free, so I just look at it. At some point, I might just list it for sale and see what comes out.
Need utility
Any NFT that doesn't offer some utility will not be entering my inventory from now on. So, in essence, I'm saying that I'll only pay for non fungibles that are related to games.
Right now, most of my attention is on Splinterlands and I intend to keep it that way for a long time. The aim is to slowly rebuild my deck, one splinter at a time.
The whole profile picture NFT thing doesn't seem to be going away anytime soon. Every day, I see new projects popping up with different randomly generated pictures.
I think all the projects that don't create an actual product around their pictures will be slowly phased out. Basically, it means that nobody will buy your pictures and you'll hold them till infinity.
That's why projects like BAYC took advantage of the hype and crazy money their community had to launch a token. They're talking about launching a metaverse game soon that will most likely be successful because of the insane money flowing in the project.
In summary
My punks and my other Hive NFTs are just sitting in my wallet. Their only utility right now is simply to look at.
I really hope that the projects I'm invested in will create something that adds utility to their NFTs. Else, they'll all just become forgotten relics that sit in your wallet forever.

As I remember, I read that, indeed, they were planned to be used in the game ... to be honest, this artistic minimalism left me indifferent, I did not even want to admit the thought that I would start collecting pixels into a primitive picture. But, this is my personal opinion.

One can not state the importance of a use case in all investments more than this. NFTs should be more than food for the eyes but a continuation and tool to financial freedom, for the people that believed in the project at its on set

Haha I am far from but this is a great place to start up to the backend development and API section, should give you more than enough info and confidence to fiddle with the Hive library and in turn the Hive-engine and DLux api's
https://www.freecodecamp.org/ - for a game you can try something lightweight like gamemaker or I would try GODOT, for just browser stuff Phaser.js is nice and maybe you just focus on one of those libraries for making browser games and we can after work on just making it more interactive with rewards on chain etc. First just kinda start somewhere.

The freecode one will start you off with HTML and CSS but can skip that and move to the JS if you like, it more an intro. Really in coding I think if you don't understand what something is doing maybe try simplify it, usually you should be able to read it like english. Don't try be smart because tomorrow you look at your own code and think wtf did you do. lol.
A big thing for me is knowing how things connect, what their role is, so if want can always give you a voice rundown on how I see some things. Also codingame is a great site for playing just with simple commands in a almost game like manner. https://www.codingame.com/
You don't strictly need to learn coding though, you have 2 problems parts really. 1. Utility for the Avatars 2. Interact with them via the utility.
You can start on 1 and build keeping 2 in mind. Like say you choose a simple drag drop style game maker right, build your game but keep in mind you would later want the scores to be recorded to peoples profiles and depending on maybe avatar rarity they get bonuses. That is all after the fact and can be added.
So you can build the utility or find one and then try keep it "agnostic" as in it should not care about how the end result is used or rely on it. A anon could play the thing or use it and not know they need Hive but once hooked up to Hive you get extra features.

Definitely, once things click that is nice till then it can be hard to picture the road. So keep it simple start with a brief on what you want to do, can always DM or chat with people to see what they think how it works for insight and keep going from there.
True. The thing is anyone can incorporate them into their applications or games. They are now open to all.

I have a check sign in my profile photo on Peakd. I liked this Hive Punks feature that shows that it is original. If you also want a check sign on your profile Punk photo, setting the punk as an avatar on Hive Punk's site (again) is enough.

Personally I think gaming is the best use case for nfts.. I have nfts in @dcity @dcrops @hashkings and @bang-defense ..,.. bang defense been an nft game under the hashkings meta verse has launched its demo mode… presale is still on although legendary pack got sold out within the first one hour ……

Yeah, those punks...! I remember when I minted mine, it was literally the last moment before they were out, so I was really happy to get my hands on one. Still, it was clear from the start: just like those famous ape NFTs, they had zero utility, and it's doubtful whether there would ever be any.
Since my punk has a Frog Hoodie, making her one of 23 on the market, I listed her to be sold for 500 HIVE, an insane amount considering I got her for for only 20 (if I remember correctly). But now I'm seeing, most other punks for sale with Frog Hoodies are asking for much more... while others try to be competitive. Still, no buyers. No surprise there.

The only one of those I jumped into was Hive Folks and that was a huge disappointment.
I have 2 of them that are just sitting on the market doing nothing. As soon as that project came out the devs attention shifted to the next thing and other than to burn the rest and do one giveaway, they never mentioned it again.
I don't know what I was expecting but it was more than that.
