It's been a bit of a rough road for Hive over the last two years. From a massive mega bull run on web3 gaming with Splinterlands coming in at the top to a very depressing bear market the blockchain and gaming on the blockchain has suffered. But so has every blockchain and gaming. However that tide greatly feels like it's changing as more development and money gets poured into this ecosystem.

Let's have a look at web3 gaming in particular on the Hive Blockchain.

Origins of Hive Gaming

Hive gaming really all started with Splinterlands and became one of the largest games ever in the web3 space in the bull run of 2020-2021. Since then the game has fallen like most but it is starting to get back up and running again with lots of new development including the last aspect of it which is something I heavily invested into years back. Overall it feels good to start seeing these things come into action now and I believe it's going to start to fuel the system but there's a lot of inflation that needs to be run through on that game first.

Since then there where a number of other games that went into beta for hive but many of them have either failed during the bear market or are in like this never ending beta phase lol.

Other games that are out for hive and have been around for a while now are DCrops, RisingStar, TerraCore and GolemOverlord.

The Coming Soons / News

In terms of rather new games that have been added to the hive blockchain we now have Crownrend and for the rest I'm going to consider those coming soons because they still feel beta to me.

Games like Holozing and a few others but honestly I don't even feel like they are worth a mention at the moment they have been that slow in terms of development or just a down right confusing system that most people are not going to end up playing.

That being said hive gaming is growing but it's mainly growing through lower quality browser games that are more passive than anything and well honestly I'm ok with that. There's only so much time I have in a day so if I can make $1 per game for 5 minutes of my time each day I'd be more willing to do that over grinding it out vs others all day long for $5-$10 if that like we see with many of these larger scale games lately.

Now another cool aspect of Hive gaming is one I've been hoping for a while to build up into something. It's been crazy slow going though and their first launch moonkart well honestly it's fun but no one plays it lol Thus the age old story. If you build it they will come is not true at all. However this company is now expanding into other areas of slots, gambling and other mini games which I think could really start to make profits and the company pop up. IDK why people love gambling and well if I can be invested to take some of those gains I'm going to do it!

The Future

I think Hives primary gaming future is going to come in two major ways. The first being that Splinterlands will be the grand game of hive while other smaller games get released around it. What we should see however is more games being released, more activity as money starts to pump up. Right now the amount of money you can make off of most hive games as a developer is really small and often times that's why companies bail or just can't make ends meet.

Growth will happen and I think it's only just about to get started so you'll see me heavily investing time, money and resources into the gaming sector of Hive!
