Livepeer is a Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) that was originally focused on building out decentralized video streaming infrastructure, but they have since shifted their focus to powering real-time AI video.
Despite the relentless crypto bear market of 2025, Livepeer revenue continues to reach new all-time highs.
In Q3 2025, Livepeer's fees increased 76% quarter-over-quarter, highlighting the increasing demand for AI video generation.
What Is Livepeer?
The project initially launched on the Ethereum mainnet back in 2018, when ~63% of their ERC-20 token supply (LPT) was airdropped to ETH holders via a merklemine.
As the scalability of Ethereum mainnet became a concern in early 2022, the team made the decision to migrate their token to Arbitrum (Layer-2 optimistic roll-up solution).
Via Arbitrum, you can now stake LPT tokens to Orchestrators (active nodes that actually do video transcoding work using GPUs) to earn a share of their rewards.
For the past year, Livepeer has been executing their "Cascade Vision," a path to transition from pure streaming/transcoding to an infrastructure that provides compute for the future of real-time AI video.
3x Increased Revenue
As per Messari's latest quarterly report, Livepeer's transition appears to be paying off. Network fees are up 3x from this time last year, and over 72% of those fees are now driven by AI inference.
