Update on PrideOfLEO and Curation 2.0 on Leo FInance

in LeoFinance11 months ago

Sometimes I feel like a bit of a dumbass and recently when it comes to LEO that is definitely the case. I know I still need do a lot of reading and digging around to try and understand what’s going on with LEO and I haven’t really had the time to do it until now. I figure that if I’m experiencing confusion then likely a lot of others are confused as well so why not post about it and see if we can together make some sense out of things. It may be the fastest way to go forward or maybe it’ll just help clear the air and I’ll be able to finally make a decision about what to do with this bag of LEO stake I am holding...

When I bought my LEO stake early last year I decided to curate my community tag with it to try and get some engagement and involvement for my community members over on LEO. I created the @prideofleo account and delegated all my LEO stake to it, but it didn’t quite work out so a couple of months ago I did a Review of my Curation Account and tried Trialing a LEO Curation Trail using Hive Vote. It’s been a couple of months now and I’m sorry to say that my trial has been a complete failure.

A lot has changed on LEO in the last 2 weeks and now that I’ve abandoned my Curation Trails I've realised that I can’t easily go back to curating my community tag on LEO manually the way I was previously because the functionality has changed on the front end of the upgraded site. I do applaud the guys at LEO for still working through the Bear Market and coming up with new functionality like Threads and Polls, but I also have to confess to being a bit frustrated with the latest upgrade. However, I’ve worked on the Developer side of projects though and I know it can take time to bed down big upgrades. User frustration at times like these is not uncommon so it’s worth being patient. I do definitely think they are heading in a good direction but for now my @prideofleo curation account is back in limbo.

I’ve done a little bit of reading about the Curation 2.0 system they are implementing for LEO and in theory it sounds like it could work well. It is certainly interesting and once again I applaud the LEO guys for trying out some new ideas and mixing things up. You can read a bit about Curation 2.0 in the posts : A Complete Overhaul to Curation on LeoFinance and Stake-Based Curation on Leo Finance If you want to get a handle on it then read it up and maybe we can help explain it to each other. I’m working through it at the moment so it’s fresh and at the forefront of my mind. The LEO guys have been really responsive to my questions in Discord so far, but I also know they are really busy so I don't want to bug them too much about trivial stuff.

I did get my Leader of the Pack status on the Discord but it looks like I need to be jumping onto Threads to post article links within the first 12 hours and meet a bunch of criteria for a post to be highly rated in the Curation 2.0 process. I’ve never done Search Engine Optimization on my posts before so that’s one thing I need to look into and I’ve just found the Leo Glossary which they are also trying to encourage. I can already see that these criteria and guidelines are designed to improve the quality and exposure of my posts so that’s all good! If I can get Curation 2.0 working on my own posts then I am happy to help others to get curated on LEO too, but for now I’m just muddling through it while the kinks get ironed out. Stay tuned!

After the merge things really got hard on the long posting because the UI was designed to promote threads so a lot of things didn't work well. Schedule posting didn't work , the whole posting page was almost unreadable and hard to put tags , etc . I find it really difficult to navigate and find new post. On the other hand i find a really easy to use it for threading.
The guys on @leofinance are really delivering yes they do have problems but from what i am seeing they are constantly improving and fixing bugs.

On the new curation i believe they wanted to promote leo buying , more traffic to threads by having to post 5 threads , and overall quality improvement in posts. But even if you follow the steps curating is still not a given .

I gave up on Leo curation a while ago. I have a series of posts that I regularly put out each week that specifically have to do with finance. I can't tell you the last time I got a leo.vote upvote. Then the same people would keep getting them over and over. I gave up trying to chase it. It wasn't worth it to me. I haven't seen much change with 2.0 yet either. If you figure something out I will be interested to see what you have to say about it.

I had been posting on the Leo front end for a long time. I HATE the new version it’s impossible to use. Nothing works right. This is now the third time they’ve screwed me. I’m done with it.

I admit, this Interface makes it hard to find other #sgs members that post under Leofinance. #explore tab is not exactly ordered by time stamp and the Search doesn't work. I end up wasting a lot of time. 🤨

A lot of changes have truly happened and is still happening. I think the UI has been extremely buggy, it's the process of transition and I think it'll take a long time to actually get the new UI functional. Leofinance has a lot of things planned out. I hope it all pans out soon enough.

I have to admit. I do like the threads and polls updates but the interface change really managed to set me off from it all.

I do still think highly of LEO but it's confusing going around on the site, maybe it's just me not being fond of sudden changes. But I do think the future is very bright with the threads.

I will surely be giving those linked atricles a nice read through.

😎🤜🙏 Sorry to hear about the disappointment so far, but Thanks for helping LEO and little guys like me who do post on leofinance. Yes, thanks also to the LEO team for their continuing work.. I think they will get it all good. One day the market will wake up and value LEO for what it should be.

I have also read the rules and tried to post in line with the rules.

But I forgot the search engine optimization and Leo Glossary rules. I will also take care of these rules on this occasion.

I would like to say that since the new link came out it has become a bit harder to use due to the fact that people are using other websites more and the way we see it. That his team is working hard and it will become more popular among them, but the link has been made difficult. I myself, for the first time in my life, on the last 15th to power up my leo coins. I collected all the coins that were using Leofinance. And the system they came up with thread's, it's much easier to use, and people are mostly going for it. And the way we see it, the team is trying very hard to publicize what it is and its users are also working very hard by sharing it on Twitter and many other places where it can be found. A new user can come over. It is the responsibility of all of us to bring all the people around us on it because it is a very good and interesting platform.

Honestly, I do not find it easy to work on LEO frontend and that is why I mostly use Ecency.

Leo curation is not fruitful anymore. Maybe they may come up with some cool innovative ideas to make it successful this time.
