Economic perspective: Rabona

On the 27th of September I decided to join Rabona.

Developed by @Rondras and @oliverschmid this game is a soccer manager game on the Hive blockchain.

At the end of February 2021 the 20th season of Rabona came to an end. Take into account that each season lasts one week and it has 30 matches.

With this post I will show how my team(s) have done so far financially.

After paying the initial investment of 5$ in Hive (32.5 Hive back then) I was able to officially join the game.

Since I use two accounts on Splinterlands I also decided to get my second account into Rabona.

How to generate income in Rabona?

In Rabona you can obtain the following currencies: RBN and Hive.

RBN is the game's own currency. It can be obtained through your team's own income: the income generated from the stadium, shops, player sales, etc.

It should be taken into account that as time goes by the cost of wages and maintaining the stadium's infrastructure increases significantly.

The income obtained from Hive depends on your position and the division you're playing in. In total 800 Hive are distributed between all teams.

In the future there will be a second way to obtain Hive: Tournaments, so keep an eye on the game!

Expenses

When it comes to Hive there are many ways to spend Hive into the game: Freezing players, Changing the player's position, reducing the training cooldown and buying RBN from the exchange.

Rabona's RBN is spent on wages and the stadium infrastructure. It can also be used to buy players on the market. In the future the tournament's entry fees will be paid on RBN.

The results

Without further ado, let's look into the results

Main Account

The income generated until season 8 was pretty low, this was because until that season I struggled to get into League 1.

The big jump on season 9 was caused by my back-to-back promotion.

The income above 7.812 Hive was from seasons were I spent on LoC (9,13,15,19 and 20). My highest so far was season 19 were I for the first time survived LoC.

It can be said that as soon as I got into season 8 I started to recover my initial investment into the game. The seasons I spent on LoC were very profitable with more than 10 Hive per season.

My loss on season 20, the first one since season 6, was caused by spending Hive on the exchange to buy RBN.

On season 13 my first team started to break even.

So far I have spent 64.312 Hive into Rabona and made 128.142 Hive in return. This gave me a profit of 63.83 Hive. A ROI of almost 100%

Second Account

It took my second account longer than my first to start making a profit. Its first season on League 1 was season 9 and it has spent less seasons on LoC than my first account.

image.png

The slump caused between season 14 and 17 was caused by the team's back-to-back relegation.

League 1 has 4 subdivisions or IDs (624, 625, 626 and 627), the worst one being 624. Teams who get into 624 face the risk of a back-to-back relegation.

If you're looking to join the game try to avoid 624.

My loss on season 11, the only one since season 2 was caused by buying RBN before the introduction of the exchange.

As you can see from my last 3 seasons my luck has changed. On season 18 my team has escaped 624 on goal difference by winning the last match 3-2.

Seasons 19 and 20 have been my best seasons so far as my team managed to remain in LoC for 2 seasons in a row. Due to the current results my second team is turning into my strongest one.

On season 15 my second team started to break even.

So far I have spent 52.115 Hive into Rabona and made 95.161 Hive in return. This gave me a profit of 63.83 Hive. A ROI of almost 82%

Conclusion

From an entire financial standpoint RBN has been an amazing investment so far.

It should be taken into account that I didn't include my current RBN balances, as I'm reinvesting it into my stadium's infrastructure.

That being said, it should be taken into account that I joined in season 2, thus I had the advantage of joining early and was playing against many Npc teams.

In order to break even you will need to reach league 1. The possibility of reaching league 1 will mostly depend on your starting point. Should you start on the feeding leagues of 624 the difficulty will be harder.

The introduction of tournaments will also open up a new source of income for everyone.

Rabona requires you to manage your team, thus you need to keep an eye on your squad constantly, You will therefore have to spend time into setting up your lineups and looking for injured or blocked players.

Want to join Rabona

Next season should be starting soon. Even if you don't make it in time you would be in line for the next season.
