6 Year Hive Anniversary

Happy Hive birthday to me! How is it 6 years?! LOL

Time really flies, in so many ways! I still remember when I heard about Steem back in the day from someone who doesn't use the platform anymore unfortunately. I procrastinated it a few months, back in 2017 I could have signed up before the crazy bull run and probably gotten a lot more Hive Power than I do now. Such is life though, things are always 20/20 when we look in the past. I'm glad that I'm here though, that's for sure!

The other day was my official Hive Birthday! 6 years on the corner of the internet here that many of us call home. It's been a wild ride, full of lots of highs and lows but the important thing is that I've learned so much!

I know that many people who are on Hive come for the potential rewards they could earn, but the ones who find a community and a niche, end up staying for much more than just the rewards they could be earning. Granted, maybe that gives us a little bit of a bias but at the same time, what the fuck isn't biased anymore these days? Let's live a little and enjoy a bit of bias, amirite?! Lol.

I've got a couple fun screenshots I'm adding :D from when I was a wee little plankton, not even a red fish or a minnow! Damn those were wild times, when I would get super excited if someone gave my comment a vote! I specifically remember following some awesome oldschool dudes like KrNel, Perceptual Flaws, CorbettReport and many others. Engagement in the comments was the shit because these were the dudes that had the posts to be at, learning all kinds of information and having a good time while doing it. These days, none of them are on the chain anymore which is unfortunate but time goes on and some people are here, some people are not.

I think it's remarkable how quickly time goes by though, in all honesty. I remember sitting in the break room at my old job when I first got signed up with Hive and thinking that it was insane, I'm part of a thing called a blockchain?! What the hell am I getting myself into? I heard of Bitcoin, sure but I was taking a step into the realm of the actual deep web?! It even feels like the dark web sometimes O_O really ominous! The funny thing about this "deep web" or "dark web" type shit is that it's largely a way for older people to just flag something they don't like or understand as some part of the internet that people should stay away from, so you don't get killed!!! What a load of shit lol.

I think that Hive is in a really good position to make waves across the Web 3.0 space, especially because that's getting more traction these days. Granted we aren't perfect for sure, we've got a lot of hills to climb but we are building the correct infrastructure and style for a lot of the things that we need to use to take advantage of in the coming next 5-10 years. Transaction fees being eliminated in favor of Resource Credits is such an innovative part of the technology that a lot of people aren't even understanding. They are pissing away gas fees on eth and places like that for what? It's a bit of bullshit, I think!

I know that I'll be here for the next 6 years at least, because of the cutting edge stuff that's going on here and all of the interaction and engagement that I do on a daily and weekly basis that helps me learn and get to the latest edge of the technology trends. I know it's a little unnerving sometimes seeing the things that are going on in the world today, but the best thing that we can do is be informed. Having been on Hive for so long, I feel far more informed than other people on a lot of the things in the world and I love that aspect of it! I get to expose myself to all kinds of people throughout the world too which is also crucial for me to grow as an individual.

Thanks! Appreciate it, what a milestone!

Happy Birthday man. 6 years, and counting, you are now ready for elementary school here in my country. time flies too fast isn't it. well that plankton time was so wild, but a lot of things have happened, now you are an orcha isn't it?

keep Hiving, and happy birthday once more. : )

I don't think I'm an orca yet, I think that's 55,000 Hive Power if I'm not mistaken, so getting there! Thanks for stopping by man, definitely glad to be here with you and starting primary school :D

Looking forward to keeping on Hive with you here too!

Congrats on 6 years, wow time goes fast.

Thanks! I don't remember where I know your account from (on chain of course!), but it's been a long time since I've seen that name :D cheers!

Happy 6th HIVE Birthday 🥳🥳
Wooohhhoooo that’s awesome.

Cheers thanks! Hope you completed your road trip safely :D the one through Europe! I bet you've done another one since then LOL

You are welcome 😎
We did reach our destination safely… it has been lots of fun. Unfortunately I have trouble with an internet connection. We are very veryyyyyy remote now. Still to much snow to install Starlink properly. I hope to update soon on more parts from this road trip and what country we moved to this time.
Haven’t done another road trip yet as settling in, unpacking… doing paperwork etc. takes a lot of time hahaha 🤣
We will go on another road trip in July though 😇

Have a great day @cmplxty

A big big congrats to you buddy. Man, 6 years on hive and still going strong is not an easy feet.

I look up to you for motivation and even though I might be burnt out right now I hope I can come back stronger. Hopefully you’re here forever.

Thanks man, I was actually just writing a comment to one of the other people on the post here without reading yours yet, don't get burnt out! It's easy to do, so take a break and recoup just don't give up on us man!

I've enjoyed the time immensely here but it can indeed take balance, which I'm still fine tuning but I'm glad you are trying to find your balance. I appreciate that you look up to me, because I forgot to edit the post sadly, but I have screenshots of when my account was a minnow, with 0 hive power! It's a long process for sure but it's feasible with persistence.

Congrats on your 6th Hive Anniversary! Definitely, highs and lows during all that time, but you stuck through it all and keep going strong. I've turned one year on Hive a few months ago. And so far so good, I'm looking forward to being active on Hive for many years ahead.

That's awesome, congrats for you hitting 1 year! That's a great achievement and one thing I can say, don't burn yourself out on the chain. Meaning going nuts, doing everything all the time. Relax and enjoy it, and you'll last a lot longer! I've seen a number of people just get too involved in every little aspect and get burnt out.

Indeed highs and lows with the chain here, I remember when the big drama episodes happened like the Steem takeover, downvote wars and stuff. It's like a ship heading in the wrong direction, eventually you can get it back on course!

Right, I think I've made that observation too. It's so easy to get burned out when we're focused on getting involved in everything, like being a jack of all trades. But this usually gets one nowhere in the long term. I think creating our own pace and working through that is probably the best way to go far in this ecosystem. I prefer moving in stages, at stage 1, focus on this aspect and build on that. Then stage 2, focus on another aspect and work on that. Hive is multifaceted and entails many avenues or options to explore.

I read quite a lot about the old times of Hive, during the Steem era and the fork into Hive. My first impression was that of inspiration and the power of communities, but I think evolution also happens, things will always change over time, hopefully more for good than for bad.

6 years is quite a milestone. Congrats!

Thanks! It's great to have crossed it, I definitely won't be able to think what the next 6 years will bring on it! Will we have robots in our houses?! Lol

Congratulations on your 6th year here in Hive! To many more years 🥂

Cheers, thanks! It's been a lot of fun and many more years!

Happy Hive birthday to you
Being 6years on here is a very long journey
Congratulations to you…

Thanks! It's a long journey for sure but it's been great and I enjoy the things I'm learning all the time!

You eventually get more informed the longer you stay. I also got to know more people through commenting on the post of people like inertia and blocktrades. Commenting back then was even more rewarding and fun. I also came to the Blockchain during the bull run, so I had the opportunity to meet a lot more people.
Congratulations to you on 6 years

Thanks man! Yeah for sure, I loved hanging out in the comments of someone's post! It was good to get to know people :D I think that's where I found you!

That's true. Hive is the true definition of a social space
