Two Months in a Row but the End is Near.

in LeoFinancelast year (edited)

Welp, I made it. This post will be the last needed for the month of February in order for me to get my second consecutive "Monthly Author" badge. To be honest, I thought this day might never come. February is always a long winter month here in the north anyway, and trying to figure out what to write about every day made it that much longer. lol It's been a grind, but also very rewarding in the fact that I now know it's possible.

I've been on Hive for over 5 years and up until January 1st, I had only ever gotten the weekly badge. And I only did that once. So I'm certainly not a seasoned writer by any measuring stick. I see some of these people who have posted every day for years instead of weeks or months and I'm in complete awe. Granted, there are a few little tricks you can use to keep the streak going without spending a ton of time writing, but if you want to maintain your following and some of the voting trails that may connect to you, you can't use them very often.

One thing I've learned over the course of these two months is that you almost have to be "full-time" on Hive. At least I do. I've got games to keep track of, communities to visit, threads to do, quests to complete, and then there's the regular curation and reading that need to be done as well. Oh yeah, and I also need to write an article each day, which usually takes anywhere from 1-2 hours. It is all very time-consuming. That said, it's been fun figuring things out and coming up with new topics or new ways to talk about old topics. Hopefully I haven't bored the hell out of you people who have been kind enough to read me regularly. :-)

But, all good things must end. The simple fact of the matter is that while I've had fun doing this, and the rewards I've received both in tokens and conversations have been nice, Hive alone still can't pay the bills. My business basically shuts down in the winter months so I have lots of time, but come spring, it's full bore back to life in the real world. Unfortunately it's the only way to support my Splinterlands habit. lol

I do, however, plan to try and stay much more active over the months ahead than I have in the past. Spending these last couple months writing every day has made me realize that I actually like doing it. It doesn't need to be "work". Plus, with the advent of #threads, it will be much easier to at least stay active there and keep myself in the loop. I may even put it on my phone, which is saying a lot for me.

So, to make a long story short, my consecutive posting days streak will be coming to an end. It may be tomorrow, it may be next week, but there will definitely be a day in March somewhere I don't get something out. And that's okay by me. I'm actually looking forward to getting back out into the real world and seeing the sunshine again. It's been a long, snowy winter but we're starting to see hints of warmer weather to come.

Thank you to everyone who has followed along and voted and commented on my writings. I appreciate it very much. This certainly isn't the end so I'm not saying goodbye. I'm just saying that stories will be much less frequent at some point over the next couple months. I'll still be around curating and getting my votes in, plus threads. Regardless of time I still need to stay consistent by doing the little things. It all adds up and those are the things that keep moving us forward.

Thanks again and remember...

I think 2 months itself is quite good and it's a milestone regardless. Even with actifit, I miss a day or two because the timing is different and sometimes I don't post them on time.

Congratulations on getting the "Monthly Author" badge! That's a big deal! It's not an easy job to create posts every single day... After reading your post, I checked my badges and noticed that I did collect the "Monthly Author" badge too, but it was a long time ago... As you said, it's a "mixed feeling" doing it... I like to create posts, but having the pressure of doing it every day, takes all the fun from it...

Today, I create 3-4 posts per week, but I do hustle on HIVE every single day, probably from the day I came to this network... Blogging is just a small part of the "HIVE lifestyle"! 😃

I have picked this post on behalf of the @OurPick project which will be highlighted in the next post!

😊😉 I, for one, appreciate and enjoy all ur posts, so do keep it up if its ok.. :) i also have been posting consistently, but would often skip a day or two, and that would throw me off, but we try..

so far, this year, i got at least 1 post per day.. :)

Nice! Hopefully you can keep it going longer than I can. I'm glad you enjoy reading these. I think about how I enjoy reading other people's writings and try to at least write things that either inform or make people see things in a different way. We're all in this together so the more we can support and educate each other, the better it will be for all of us.

I haven't been to your post for a long time but it's been almost a week since I started reading and commenting on your posts. Your post is very good but as you said now you will be busy in your outside life so I wish you best of luck for that. I could not do that much interaction with you, but what happened was good. Stay blessed

Well, like I said, I'm not leaving. It just won't be as regular as it's been. I like being able to do one a day and I'm going to keep trying for as long as possible, but I'm giving myself permission to let a few days slide here or there. I've doubled my 2023 goal of getting 1 Monthly Author badge by getting two. I still need to get to 13 Weekly Author badges so I'm not there yet. I'll still need to post regularly at some point to get those. I appreciate you being a regular reader and, like I said, I'm not saying goodbye. There will just be some gaps going forward.

Yes I have read that, I mean to say your focus will be divide in short.

Unfortunately time is always running out, but I'm sure you'll be able to make things fit together, posting every day if you do it casually is nice but even three or four posts a week but done well are excellent

I'm going to keep trying. As I said above, I still have some goals to hit so I'm not done. It will just be a little less regular.

The first time I wrote a posts took me 5 hours. It was about a gold coin, take some photos and description. Even that is quite time consuming. But you get use to it and improved. So takes less each time to produce !

Indeed. I'm right there with you. My posts used to take 3-4 hours with all the images and links and such. Now I've pretty much got that all figured out so if I've got something in mind to write about, I can usually get it done in about an hour. I'm nowhere the machine that taskmaster is, but then nobody is. lol
