Hive is making me more money than my day job

Patience is paying off ⏳🤑

December 1st will be my 4 year Hive anniversary. I've spent every single day since I started back on December 1st, 2017 building my account from the ground up. I think in total I have invested only about $4,000, everything else has been earned in the trenches. Throughout this time I have continued doing everything in my normal life while also juggling this Hive work. I didn't want to be miserable throughout this entire building process, so I've used my modest paycheck from work to continue living my life as close to the fullest as possible.

I haven't had the extra fiat to invest in crypto regularly. I have to thank Hive for giving me a chance to take advantage of this huge wealth transfer. Without the opportunity to earn my crypto through blogging and curation, all of my hard work would have provided me with little to no results. Instead, my life has changed in the best of ways.

Yesterday was Thanksgiving and I got to spend it with some of my favorite people in the world. Throughout the entire day, I got to take occasional glances at my evergrowing Hive account value. I just posted a couple of days ago about the value of my wallet flirting with $100,000 (read that here). I only half expected my wallet to read $250,000 just 48 hours later, what can I say, I’m confident about Hive. Currently, my Hive is valued at just over $200,000 this very moment, but it constantly fluctuates. I am thrilled to see this but have a feeling that the value is about to explode even more over the coming weeks and months.

In preparation for a new life of freedom, I had a lot of work to do after a perfect Thanksgiving day. So I got started with some essential tasks that would enable me to better utilize my newfound wealth.

cro_cards.png

CRO has been on a big run as of late and I have been using my base-level https://www.crypto.com debit card here and there over the past year. I decided to finally stake $4,000 worth of CRO (should have long ago I know) and upgraded my debit card to the Royal Indigo level which offers 3% cash back on every purchase instead of only 1%, among several other benefits. It was a tough choice between the two metal debit cards at this $4000 level, I decided to go with purple over the Jade Green.

I knew that since I would be using my crypto to purchase things in real life a lot more now, it was a must to have a higher tier card. Every percent counts to me and I didn’t want to miss out on the perks of upgrading by staking CRO any longer. Plus I’ll also be earning 10% APY on my minimum 180 day stake period.

bitreffil.png

Another website that I love to use is https://www.bitrefill.com for gift cards. A lot of the places that I shop or eat have gift card options. This also gives me rewards for purchasing, but it’s separate from my CRO cash back. I prefer using gift cards when I can since it keeps me from having to deal with a centralized entity that tracks all of my finances. Crypto.com knows a lot about what I am doing, but they don’t have to know everything.

Apple is probably the place I’ve purchased the most gift cards. I found out that you can use a maximum of 8 gift cards at once on Apple. The largest gift card is $500. That means you can make purchases of $4,000 at a time. Plus you can just do a separate transaction if you somehow need to spend more than that, anything is possible with Apple’s pricing.

Priority Fail.jpg

As I write this blog, I am standing at my shitty day job that I’ve worked for around 8 years now (4/20/13). USPS has provided me with a consistent income since I dropped out of college at the beginning of 2013. At the time I was desperate for a reliable income, it was normal for me to only have $20 in my bank account back then. Usually my spare change was wasted on a tiny amount of weed to smoke and distract myself from the misery of not being successful. I had yet to begin my crypto journey and I was just getting past my binge drinking phase of my 18-20 years. I got stuck living with my parents until I was 25. I was pretty low and desperate to become a man.

I am so happy to say that my goal of leaving my 40 hour/week time suck of a job is closer to happening now than it ever has. I have 5 years worth of salary saved up and also a consistent income from my friends here on Hive that keeps growing, which I’ll never stop being thankful for.

Really the only thing tying me to this place is a measly $700 left on a $3,000 TSP loan that I took out to invest in crypto back in 2017. I was also slightly concerned about losing my dental and health insurance, but truthfully paying out of pocket won’t be as bad as I expected. A simple cleaning at the dentist only runs about $130. That’s basically the same price as paying for insurance all year, if not cheaper. I haven’t used my health insurance once since I got it. These are things I can live without. Thankfully I have capital to back up my health if ever needed.

Once I am not stuck in the black hole of getting up and going to work everyday, I will have so much more time to grind on Hive. I already post daily, but would love to up my quality even more and perhaps quantity too. Then add in even more time to curate with my healthy upvote and leave comments on other awesome posts. I so badly want to dedicate the main part of my days to this place rather than only my spare time when I can sacrifice it.

The goal of living off of Hive is imminent and it feels fucking amazing. Once I reclaim my freedom, my next major task will be helping my loved ones do the same. This is quite the lengthy process, the whole transitioning to a whole new way of life thing. I’m prepared to endure what is to come and find a way to make it work. I’ve been extremely patient throughout this entire process, often times it has been dreadfully painful. Both my interior and exterior have hardened to a supreme defensive level. I believe that I have what it takes to make it, do you?

Congrats man! Really glad Hive is helping to support you.

This place has done so much for me, I only hope to be able to help others in the same way so that we all can win.

Amazing. Glad you're getting close to freedom! It's an amazing feeling and you're able to do things you love to make money instead of what others tell you to do. My brother works for USPS so I know the grind is crazy.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You surely understand how much this means to me. I’m sure your brother has a tougher job than my window clerk duties, but 40 hrs is 40 hrs 🥵

Oh yeah, he's a carrier and fills me in daily about how much of a nightmare it is. You're gunna make it!

That’s what my dad does. I’ve watched him work harder than most other men for 20+ years.

I’ve been extremely patient throughout this entire process, often times it has been dreadfully painful

For someone who's relatively new in Hive (less than 6 mos), I love reading post like this because it reminds me to be patient in this journey. And although Hive is just a hobby for me, I'm seeing a wonderful future here as well. I could only imagine the effort and patience you and the rest put into throughout the years @daltono. An inspiration for all of us who's entered the community just this year to continue the journey no matter what. I'm seeing myself doing the things I do now here in Hive for the next years while keeping my day job, too. Keeping it for the insurance and the stability for now. Cheers to success! 🍻

My first 6 months were such a struggle. I didn't know what to post, how to get people to view my work or much of anything at all about crypto. I think you are in a much better position than I was. We have so many more resources to learn now. The community has grown to be so strong and welcoming of new users.

I hope that your future continues to get brighter and maybe one day you will have even more time to spend with your friends and family.

And it's all thanks to you and the rest who made Hive what it is now. I told those who I onboarded to read this post so they can get inspiration and the will to carry on. Words are not enough to express our gratitude. Wishing you more success @daltono! 😊

A community effort can produce amazing results. Thank you for being an important factor here as well.

Congrats man! My hive monthly salary just caught up with my work monthly salary. I'm thrilled, and a little bit shocked that it happened so fast...I mean it took 5 years, but the fork felt like a reset in a lot of ways.

I kind of like the work I'm doing now so I'll keep doing it even if I earn more at Hive, but now I feel comfortable to take breaks whenever I need them and to turn down the clients I don't want to work with. :-) I also can consider opening a music/art/cafe space and even buying a house if it keep moving in this direction. Things are looking up.

This is such a dramatic flip from just a few months ago.

You’re right when you say it felt like starting over with the fork. I’m glad I decided to stick with Hive. Clearly it was a wise decision for everyone who did so.

It’s nice to be able to juggle multiple ventures. Especially if you find happiness in all areas.

There was never any question for me. The amount of awesome people I meet here makes it impossible to leave.

This shit is awesome dude!
Hope you and your family had an amazing thanksgiving. Surely you are going to have better chances of convincing your household to get active in Hive. They can’t say no forever 😉

I hope they finally begin to get more active here.

At this point, they are just plain lazy and lack ambition if they don't. No sugar coating it anymore. This is a major opportunity.

I dont think it is about being lazy. I think it is them just not being interested in trying to blog. It's not for everyone. If we could incentivize content consumers to come here a bit better without forcing them to invest to earn, it would be better. Not everyone is a content creator, but the majority of people are content consumers.

Ok, maybe lazy is a bit harsh. Well, maybe I'm just speaking for my flower. She spends hours daily scrolling other social media and even posting some herself, but she won't take the time to do it where she can be rewarded. It pains me to watch. I just forced her to sign up for a crypto.com debit card today. Maybe having that will motivate her since she can actually use what she earns.

The hard part about getting people to switch from traditional social media to hive is that they instantly lose all of their contacts from the other social media when they come here. Plus there really isn’t much great content being produced here that would interest them.

I'm not close to your value but if Hive keeps it up I'd love to be a full time Hiver too!

I was in your position not too long ago. Success is inevitable for everyone active on Hive. Depending on where a person lives in the world, they could already be living quite the life at these prices.

Great Story and a huge success. Congratulations!
Regards Thomas

I wouldn’t have believed any of this to be possible 10 years ago. Luckily my kindest changed and I have a much more positive outlook on my present and future.

wow thats amazing... i wish i grind a little harder here but im happy that something came of the time put it in, hopefully on the next bull run ill be where your at!

I too wish I had grinded harder, despite already having great success. I always strive to be better than I already am. It’s a great way to be, but we cannot forget to congratulate ourselves on our successes.

That is more than amazing. We really owe a lot to cryptos! 🤑 😋

By the way, I love the clothes you've put on in that picture :p

That is the truth, crypto is changing the world.
Thank you for the compliment. That is my favorite jacket. I recently found a matching one for my girlfriend.

IMG_3564.JPG

your vision makes my life more passionate, and my dream also wants to be like you financially independent and have free time, I also feel how to continue to work for other people to build their dreams, while dreams themselves must be buried and become wishful thinking, I will follow the example of the journey your life and I hope I succeed too, thank you for sharing your inspirational story @daltono

Dreams become reality, all that it takes is a clear vision, effort, and time.

ok, i will fight for it

Congratulations there man, it's good to see you enjoying the dividends of your investment and i'm even more happy that you're actually vested and building with the chain, through the dips and now the bull seems to be here.
I will probably get a job soon too, I want to be able to buy back give when the dip comes. Stunning pictures.

It’s been a lot easier than most would imagine to not withdraw from my account for so long. I’ve had such a solid belief in Hive, there was no stopping my mission. It continues today even, I know this is barely the tip of the iceberg.

It's just the beginning, I know this too as well. It's been really Important to see how far the chain has come, the price is actually a manifestation of the growth thats been happening here. Cheers to us.

Good feeling isn't it? Long may it last. 9-5... fuck off!

Comparable to my first bj back in high school. The thing is that enslaved me to woman for years… where this is unleashing my full creative capability.

Spread love.

Congratulations. You have done well for yourself. You're an inspiration.

Virtual hand shake 🤝
I wish for us all to find this same success and then some. The world deserves more abundance spread through many, rather than an exclusive few.

The fact you have so much saved up right now is amazing and coming from someone who just became a full time dad i hope you achieve you goals very soon :)

!PIZZA

I'm glad I didn't get involved here when I was a dumbass college party kid. My opportunity came once I had fully matured.

If I were a dad I would be much more strapped for financial stability. It is just my gf and I right now and we are able to manage a pretty awesome life with what we have here. Now if I can just get here active so we both have a solid stream incoming.

As I write this blog, I am standing at my shitty day job that I’ve worked for around 8 years now (4/20/13). USPS has provided me with a consistent income since I dropped out of college at the beginning of 2013.
I am so happy to say that my goal of leaving my 40 hour/week time suck of a job is closer to happening now than it ever has.

Love to hear it and if we stay at this level then it wont be much longer until a lot of people do the same thing. I left my job last week. 13 years of working my ass of and now i can earn more money playing game son hive. I have my crypto.com card to live off and things are great.

Met old friends and family this week with my free time. Got back into playing golf and learned lots of new things on hive. The sooner you make the jump the better.

Hell yea bro! You’ve gotta be feeling on top of the world right now. We’ve committed so much towards these mega goals.

I wonder if my old friends even exist anymore. Sure would be nice to reconnect. At the same time I’m Bally with who I have.

Great to break those chains! Scary as hell, but living in Hive is pretty cool. Well in combo with other defi investments, like CUB, lol. Working on trying to build those post rewards myself, but hey every little bit helps!

Scary yes, but I love horror movies so I'm gonna be great. I know you are busy with multiple avenues at once. It is bound to result in a bountiful life full of freedoms.

I spent allot of my life in south Florida including the Keys, so I think like a commercial fisherman… throw as many lines in the water and see which one hits, lol. If they all hit, that’s a good problem to have, lol.

There are many successful fishermen who have that me totality. It’s smart to think like that bro. Can always hire more hands if there are too many lines to deal with for one fellow 🎣

Hell yeah man. Congrats on the hustle. Im stuck in the black hole of some debts too, but cheers to paying shit off. Happy late turkey day bro, keep rockin

!LUV dat !PIZZA

Thankfully I never went down a credit card spiral. My debt is something I could have paid off long ago, but my employer has just been taking out $20 of each of my checks gradually. They wouldn’t let me pay it off online with debit card, so I’ve just been putting off buying a money order to finish it for good. It’s about time, as soon as my new debit card comes in the next week or two. I want to get as much CRO in the form of cash back as possible.

Thats good man. Ive carried credit for too long, bad habit, feels good to pay and keep it clean. Focus on chillin. Paying off this dam audi though lol. Id like to see this hive price hold up and show some strength

I paid my Audi off like 3-4 years ago and it was a great feeling. I have been tempted to get a new one, but keep holding back until I really need it.

Congratulations sounds like quite a ride.

Although I wouldn't rely on Hive staying at this price for ever - it'll probably go up A LOT and then back down A LOT MORE.

No idea on the timescales of course.

Liquid Hive i'm finding especially useful ATM.

And Hive's a great place to be for sure right now.

Splinterlands is now my main meal ticket, Hive seems like a nice perk on the side these days!

Thanks a lot! I don't think HIVE has stayed the same price for longer than a few seconds ever 😉. There are so many options for what one could do with liquid HIVE right now. I'm sure you are spreading it in a smart way.

Well that's a fair comment on the price, maybe I should have said 'range' - it's very nice to see it above $2, if this is the new floor for the next few months I will definitely take that!

I'm hoping for $10. I think a lot of people are!

Pooling with DEC is a very appealing option for me right now!

At this point, I wouldn't be shocked at all to see the value rise to $10 and above. This community is driven and the tech is proven.

Calm before the storm ATM....

I have a feeling December could be CRAZY!

I loved reading about your success story! Congratulations - your patience and perseverance paid off! I also just upgraded my CRO debit card to Jade steel, this is a great week to be invested in both HIVE and CRO!

That brings me joy to know. I bet you’re hyped to have that new debit card. They still haven’t even shipped mine yet. I hate waiting on things.

I am excited, but I'm still waiting for the physical card to arrive. The best part is that I got to the $4k level without having to buy any more coins, because the bull run pushed my CRO holdings over the threshold for me!

That’s what’s up! You bossed up. I remember back when it was still Monaco, I thought that their colored metal cards were so cool. Clearly here to stick around for quite awhile. That simple domain is huge, crypto.com is very easy to remember.

Yeah Crypto.com did a great job creating utility and demand for CRO, and it's really paying off. Haha you're definitely an OG crypto holder if you remember them as Monaco! I remember those days too but I didn't invest back then because I wasn't sure if they were legit - the cool metal card and the idea of a real credit or debit card for crypto sounded too good to be true!

Congratulations and thank you for not writing one of those arrogant, self congratulatory posts that many are writing at the moment.

Humbleness, humility and hard work pay dividends as you are finding out and will continue to reap the rewards through the rest of your life.

Well done fella. I wish you and your young lady all the best.

Arrogance has never been my thing. I can joke and act arrogant, but I never actually mean it. When I see others gloat and not have gratitude, it pains me. I always wish to be thankful for what I have, even if I did earn it through cold hard work.

This is all awesome momentum dude!
Congrats on being in a position to leave your job! 💪

Good shout on the Bitrefill service too! I had no idea that existed.

I appreciate it loads and loads @ashtv.

Bitrefill is an awesome service. I use it all of the time. There are so many places that offer gift cards on there. One could pretty much live off of the gift cards alone if one had to.

That’s awesome. I’ll dig deeper.

Also your story in the post resonates with me a lot.
Similar story to mine - I’ve been here just after you, Jan 2018 :)

Invested about £1500 fiat and built the rest through (fairly casual) posting and curating. All manual curation since day 1.
Dread to think how many things I’ve upvoted 😆

Good to see those still at it, reaping the rewards 💪🏻

It is pretty amazing what we have been able to do in just a few short years.
You can check https://hivebuzz.me/@ashtv if you really want to know how much you have upvoted. I love stats. It seems you have upvoted over 35,000 times!

🤯

Crikey!

"December 1st will be my 4 year Hive anniversary"

you arrived 30 days before me.

I knew that you've been around for quite a while too. Actually, I think I heard that dope accent of yours at the most recent Hive Fest while I was walking around. Glad we both have remained focused on our goals and keep at what we love.

Wow, Amazing to read that how much you have earned and that it takes time to grow! It's an inspiration! :D Congratulations and thank you for sharing!

During corona I tried out to grow my instagram account. The account grew, but I didn't earn any money on it. My boyfriend @pusen introduced me to hive, and i'm so happy for it! I'm not as active here as I want to, kind of struggle with what I should write about (and my perfectionism doesn't support my english, hahaha), but I'm happy that I am earning something on those posts I actually post! :D

I do feel a true sense of accomplishment. I appreciate your commendation.

I'm glad @pusen got you over here. I've been begging @flowerbaby to work hard here, but it is not easy to convince people to try something so new.

I think that your English is amazing, just so you know. I always read your work just as easily as I do somebody from the USA. I'm sure that it does take a little extra effort on your end, but you do a wonderful job. Keep it up!

I blogged when I was around 13-17 years old. I actually blogged/promoted for a music company for a while too. So I know a little bit what blogging is about and it takes a lot of your time. But back then I spent all my days doing it, and it wasn't fun anymore because I didn't have a life outside of it. So it's important to me to do it because I like it and because it's fun. Do it like I don't earn anything on it, if you know what I mean :) So it doesn't help if my boyfriend pushes me, only motivates me by showing his results of this! And your accomplishment you wrote about here was a big motivation too!

Thank you so much! :D I try my best. My grammar is the worst, and google translate can't help me with that. Hahaha! But it's nice to actually have to write english too, so I don't get worse at it.

Some things come and go in spurts. Sometimes being 100% committed to something is good and other times not so much. A partial commitment can solve that trouble and result in a great fun factor.

I wish I could speak more than one language. I feel really smart as is, but anybody who knows multiple languages one-ups me right away in the language department.

We're all growing on this platform and I love to see it.

Bro, it really is such a great thing to witness. I know we all must be feeling so good about all of this hard work we've been putting in.

I am still a fresher here on hive but since my first day here, I have no regret or whatsoever. To be candid, a post like this serves as a motivation to someone like me and tends to push me towards exploring every bit of opportunities here on hive. My target to get where I dream of will continue to work towards. Cheers

The initial excitement I had when first starting has only grown. I have yet to even get close to losing my passion for creating here. Best experience I've ever had with any type of social media. I feel like I'm actually worth something on here, unlike other popular socials like YouTube, IG, FB, and Twitter.

This was an inspiring read. Living fulltime nomadic on a boat as we do the potential for hive to make us self sufficient is within touching distance. Let’s hope this is the start of the explosion!

Your boat life is so fun to look into from your all's posts on Hive. If I quit my job after somebody let the fuse... I can't wait to see what I'm able to do once the dynamite actually goes off 🧨

It looks like you worked extremely hard to achieve all that you have, and so its only fair that you are now able to reap the benefits. Congratulations!

I really have. There have been so many times where I have been in actual physical pain due to this job. I used to work manual labor, luckily got out of that area. Still being on my feet all day and having to deal with pissed-off customers is taxing. It's so much more satisfying to be sitting in my workspace at home and creating whatever I desire.

Quick question. When you use your Crypto visa card, can your bank see that? / Does Crypto report to the government?

Wow, thanks for the insight, very interesting!
