Historical Data On Hive Punks Trading Activity | Number of punks, volume and top buyers | Aug 2022

Punks On Hive has been one of the coolest projects on Hive for me personally. The project was launched during last year HiveFest, sold super fast and just has some coolness about it.

How are Punks On Hive doing these days? Lets take a look at some data.
We will be looking at the trading activity after the Hive Punks sold out, and the trading between players.

Hive Punks were launched on November 12th, 2021 during the first day of HiveFest and they were sold in 36 hours. Since then, the project web page was improved a bit, a data on market history was added, filtering etc.

Just a reminder how the sale went.

Yep, all gone I less than two days. 10k punks for a price of 20 HIVE each.

Now we will be looking at:

• Hive Punks sold per day
• Hive Punks sold per month
• Trading volume in HIVE daily and monthly
• Top buyers

The period that we will be looking at is from December 2021 until August 2022. The first month for the project, November 2021 is left out, because this is the month when the minting was happening and it is not comparable with the trading afterwards.

Disclaimer: There can be small errors in the data, because it is taken from the blockchain and cleaned up for fake transactions, but something might be left out.

Number Of Hive Punks Traded Per Day

Here is the chart for Hive Punks traded per day.

As we see there is an overall downtrend since the start, but then we have a major spike in July 2022, when there were almost 50 punks bought in a day. This is most likely because of ongoing promotional airdrop from the dCity game to Hive Punks holders. Most of the punks that were on the market for low prices were bought then.
Since then, its been quite on the market and August doesn’t have any sales. Looks like the floor was swept and now there is not much activity.

The monthly chart for Punks bought looks like this:

A bit clearer representation here. We can see that December 2021 is leading with more than 300 punks traded in that month. In the following months in 2022 the number of punks sold per month was around 130, then it dropped under 100 in April, and July has seen an increase mostly because of the day when there were almost 50 punks bought and it is almost at 100. August is not over yet but it is set to be the month with the least trading activity.

How is the trading volume doing in terms of HIVE?
Here is the chart for the trading volume.

This chart follows the chart for the number of Punks sold as well. A higher volume in the beginning and a slow a drop after that. On a few occasions we have more than 3k HIVE volume per day.

On a monthly basis the chart looks like this:

Here again we can see that December 2021 is in the lead, then a lower amounts in January and a drop again in the following months. Since February 2022 the monthly volume is around 2k to 3k HIVE per month.

Top Hive Punks Buyers In 2022

Here are the accounts that made the higher volume buying Hive Punks in 2022.

@elmerlin is on the top here with more then 6k HIVE in trading volume. Most of this volume is because of one 4k buy on January 1st. The second one @goldkey has the highest number for buying punks in 2022, almost 100.

Since February 2022 Hive Punks are showing a sort of stagnation in terms of market activity. 2022 has been a bad year for the crypto market and NFTs after the amazing 2021. Still what’s interesting is that Hive Punks holds the floor price at 20 HIVE at the moment, although at times these floor price has been lower, somewhere around 15 HIVE.
As we have seen the trading volume for these NFTs is small, and the market can go in the both directions easily. NFTs can be speculative as the value is totally subjective and it all depends on will there be some popularity around them. I personally like the project and hold my Punks that I bought during the minting. This is totally subjective 😊.
