If you check my past post, since May I have published two android apps. First one is free and the second one is premium.
First one is the website which was intended to be a finance tracking tool. And that tool has made it easier for me to work with the finance specific features.
I made a website around that named Finance track tools. This website has given me an insight on making more such tools and turn them into an app.
So let's talk about how I created the app? Let's talk about it.
I started by writing PRD and prompt with the deepseek. I found the suggestions from the deepseek pretty heavy and useful.
Once the PRD draft was done, I pushed the draft into the bolt. This made it easier for me to create a barebones Expo app.
From here I had to experiment with features. One feature at a time. I had no clue if this feature set would be complete or minimum enough for the users to have any decent use case.
I had to remove a lot of features like dark mode, modes for currencies, apis for the live financial changes in curreency. I wanted to add them all but turns out that is not how real world features are built.
One after another useless features were removed and only essentials were placed. And that way the app turned out to be closer to the finish line for me.
Finally the app was ready but the deployment requires the export into android bundler file. For which I made use of the Expo EAS. This feature makes the deployment into file easier.
App is now live with the name Smart Savers on Google Play. And you can download it. I have kept the price 1.99 low enough as features are good enough and also free doesn't pay bills.
I have learned a lot of things out of the app making and also managed to post this as an entry in the devpost hackathon.
Lot of interesting things to learn when you join hackathons on topic and build something which can be used to host as a premium app.
