Hard to plan for 2025, the final year of the bull market, isn't it? Unless you are a hodler by excellence, and, bull or bear, you keep hodling and growing your stakes. Then, things become easier... if you don't check the dollar value of your portfolio much. 😀
If we believe 100% that crypto is the future, and we don't need it to live off now or in a potential future, then growing our bags should be the priority and the dollar value should not influence our decisions.
But how many are in such a position, and how many resist the temptation to use the crypto cycle as a leverage to increase their stakes? I've done it before, and it didn't end up well, at least in some cases...
That's why this cycle I have a more balanced approach, but in 2025 profit taking will take precedence over anything else. I've taken and will continue to take lots of profits to the point at the end of the bull market most of my holdings will be stables. Most exceptions will come from the Hive ecosystem, again. Theoretically, I don't plan to power down my main stake at all (in fact, I still power it up daily and on HPUD with minimum amounts). But if the price of HIVE goes really high, it would be foolish of me not to take a little bit of profit from that too, obviously, accounting for my long term plan to increase HP.
The other thing I am unclear about is iliquid assets in games, and maybe a few H-E holdings (other than stables). I won't make the same mistake as last cycle and not sell assets pumping really hard, no matter how much I like or want them. It will be hard to hold myself to this one, but all I need is to remember the worth of my Splinterlands assets in 2021 and their worth a few months ago (or even now).
But many of these targets are price or time-related and won't be made public as Hive goals. I might not even have all of them clear in my mind at the beginning of the year. For example, do you know how much will Splinterlands cards or land be worth close to the peak of the bull market? Or even be sure when the peak will be? I have no idea, especially on the price part!
What I know for sure is that my goal of having 5000 HBD in savings will carry over to 2025, since it's a multi-year goal and is mostly meant for 2025.
I will likely continue to have my social goals, since they are not market driven.
I will likely have at least one more goal at the beginning of the year, but I don't know it yet.
It is very likely I will continue the types of goals I had this year, with multiple shorter-than-one-year focuses which can also be adapted to the changing conditions throughout the year, may that be market prices or new products and developments you can't anticipate at the beginning of the year when you set your goals. Yearly goals are hard to manage, especially in crypto, where things change so rapidly.
So, have you thought of your Hive goals for next year? How have you performed on your goals for this year?

Glad I checked out this post man. I haven't set an HBD goal yet but I sure need to...especially since we have more pathways to get in & out of the ecosystem and into other assets. cant think of a better savings account, crypto or not
Yes, next year I believe many will focus more than before on HBD.
It looks like you already have your goals for 2025 more-less clear... I'm giving myself 3-4 weeks more to think about them, but I could see HBD savings as one of the goals... And probably HIVE as usual... 😃
The rest? I don't know yet... :)
I don't see why we should change what worked for us. 2025 could be problematic when setting your timing or price points to take profits, but otherwise, some things never change.
Nice to see you're still here for another wild ride!
I have goals to post more next year, and I hope to keep 5000 HIVE powered up.
I learned I'm not a good trader, and in particular, I'm too contrarian to go along with the market's mood swings. My last profitable futures trade was a year ago, shorting Solana while it went from $20 to $120.
Yep, it's hard to be a contrarian in a bull market...
You already have that. You mean not to power down more? That can be a route many take at the end of the bull market with HBD at our disposal.
Yes, I mean not power down more than my current 30 HIVE per week. Unfortunately I'm in a period of high expenses and low income, so I'll have to cash out some coins.
That can always be a problem and one cannot ignore it.
It sounds like a plan, it has been a tough couple of years in the alts and I think many are looking to take some profits as a key priority. I am just wondering who is going to be buying at the top when many are selling? They do say dont buy tokens that have already pumped last cycle as bag holders will dump on you.
hehehe... many will buy it as they will not recognize that it's a top! 😃 It happened before, it will happen again...
Good point. I'm guessing people who would have made lots of money in other projects, usually higher market caps, and who are entering smaller caps at the end, for a last push. Plus newcomers who often come in a period of hype (I joined during such a period) and who usually pay for their "tuition" in crypto especially during the first cycle, if not later too.
Good luck man, you sound Pre-Rich already! 2025 is going to be pretty epic!
I'm hoping so, as all of us!
My plan for 2025 is to get more than 60K in HBD savings, likely 70K...crossing fingers
That's a nice amount of HBD. I'm hoping for more than 5k too, but I wanted a baseline number which seemed ok when numbers were... depressed. May be too low later on, but I'm waiting to hit this one first.
step by step!
I have considered my goals for next year and I am just not sure yet. I did do well on my goals for 2024 as most of them have been reached or will be soon.
Glad to hear about your 2024 goals! There's still time for us to consider what our goals should be.
You've said it all. Imagine if Hive does 5$ it'll be really foolish not at least sell a couple 2, 3 or 5k Hive and ape into HBD. Imagine using all that gains to buy back Hive and become an orca
You revealed my "secret" plan, lol.
Haha, let's see how it goes.. I think the thoughts of 2025 sometimes brings anxiety, but I think you can do it.
We had a preview these days with what can happen in a short time span. I wonder how we will react then. I don't like how I handled it this time, but theoretically, I could afford to play it long term now, but then it's exactly what I should avoid.
Hmm for Hive, not much actually. But outside of Hive, yes. Hahaha. I guess the difference I still need the Hive Power for day to day engagement.
That can be a goal. I am glad you think that way. Others may take note of this, especially small accounts, who take out their earnings first and regret later.
Yep. I have outside goals/targets/plans too, but I haven't shared them on Hive. I prefer to keep my goal posts focused on Hive.
At this point in time, there isn't really any plans yet. Just rough ideas cooking in my head. For me, it's sort of a dilemma with the projects I believe in, to hold all through the bull cycle or to take some profit. Most projects aren't immune to the bear market, so there price will definitely fall when the bear sets in again. And I don't want to kick myself again when that time comes reminiscing on the potential profits I could've made!
I'm not 100% decided either in all aspects. I think some decisions for specific projects and particular investments I won't even make until later next year. I might categorize them and have some broad plan for smaller or hard to make liquid investments and then make a decision on individual cases later.
Right. I also try to make decisions on a specific basis in relation to the time duration. I feel that there could be surprises along the way, some of them good ones, which may make it easier to spot the right timing of the decision. I think also being flexible along the way is very important.
I learned that the hard way a few times, when my goals were relatively inflexible and I kept pushing for them despite being inadequate for the evolving situation.
Taking profits this bull run is a must. I heard someone on hive talk of holding some liquid hive and leaving HP alone and I think it's a good idea. I've already laid out my plans for next year, no way I'm not taking some significant profit. Thanks for writing.
How do you hold liquid Hive, unless you earn it from somewhere or buy it? Curation and author rewards are in HP.
I've done that in the previous cycle. It's not enough. I ended up regretting it.
That's smart, in my opinion. Of course, a small account on Hive should rather prioritize growing before thinking of taking profits. Myself, for example, despite not having a small account on Hive (particularly the staking account), I take profits in order to grow even more (knowing a bear market will come and I can buy back more Hive).
My goal is reach 600hbd!
That seems like a reasonable target. Good luck!
