We Have Wormsign!

That's right, after waiting for what seems like for-eh-vah, Dune 2 is finally rolling into theaters in a few days! SQUEE!

March 1st, 2024 to be exact.

Now, I don't get too excited about most things, rather I am pretty elated about pretty much everything most of the time, but I have to say, I am super, over-the-top, beyond excited for this movie to come out.

Because, well, DUNE!

As a child, lines from the first movie floated around in the ether I existed in all of the time. My dad was especially fond of saying, "Get out of my mind!" to my mother, and as the Reverend Mother of our house, I have to say she showed much wisdom and restraint by not ending him on many occasions.

Dad also listened to Toto, and the soundtrack to the first movie, all epic and very 80's is still one of my favorites.

But it was the novel itself that made a huge impact on my life, I devoured that book, and was captivated by all things House Harkonnen and House Atreides. The scheming and drama was like a never ending chess game that had no winners.

But it was the Fremen and the worms really captured my young imagination. I could only imagine how cool it would be to run up to something the size of the Royal Caribbean The Icon of the Seas, stick a fork in it, and be elevated to the sky for a magic worm back carpet ride!

Not even remotely close...

One nice thing about the first Villenueve Dune movie was that you could tell he respected the source material. The movie definitely appreciated and followed the book, which is why I am so dang excited about the second one!

Plus, as we all know, "Fear is the mind killer," so like I am going to dread they are going to mess it up. Nope, I am excited! Like my hand going into a Gom Jabbar excited without the existential dread part, excited!

It's time: The Spice must flow.

And as not most of the time, the images in this post are from Pixabay, because I have no worm sign in the glacial silt I dwell upon.

This book was very popular when I was in school but never took my time to read it
Nice pictures though

Thanks lol! Pixabay delivers when I don't have something in my camera roll that fits the scenario. Hope you are having a splendid day!

I loved all the Dune books and have read them 2 or 3 times. But I've never seen the movie, mostly because I can't bear to watch violence.

There is definitely a bit of violence in the films, but the visuals in this latest adaptation are just beyond massive and beautiful! (I love that you have read them all more than once btw, that is awesome!)

One of the dubious perks of Lyme disease, I forget books in about a year. So I can read them over and over…

I tried reading the book in middle school. I got bored and quit about four chapters in. I was a big sci-fi/fantasy nerd too. It just didn't do it for me. I should try again. I think I'd understand more now.

I definitely bet you would understand more now! I waited until I was a sophmore to read Dune, mainly because I was not able to get my hands on a copy sooner, but I am glad that I was a bit older when I finally did delve in. Hope you enjoy😊

I have enjoyed the movies despite not finishing the book.

Very excited for this to come out!

Read the books in the way-back-when, they opened up a whole new universe of science fiction for me. Frank Herbert's house on Ivy St. is less than three miles from where we live. Still see his 1970's Volvo around town from time to time... not sure who owns it now.

I think these latest films are also benefiting from both son Brian and granddaughter Kim being executive producers and having some input.

=^..^=

ME TOO!

And I love it when people who represent the creator of a story have some input on the movie! Of course, since I didn't know that about the current production now I am even more excited! Did I mention that I am excited about Dune? lol!

Hope you enjoy your Dune-viewing!😊
