Stock Market 101:: Booked Profits Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd; ticker:: KOTAKBANK - My Strategy Ahead...

Booking profit is always good and hence I have been focusing on taking profits wherever applicable. In this post of Stock Market 101 series I am going to talk about my investment in the stock which goes by the name - "Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd; ticker:: KOTAKBANK" and why I decided to book profit here. Lets start with the rise in price for KOTAKBANK Yesterday, it surged more than 10% and this was the main factor that tempted me to take some action. Check the following image that I have taken from Screener App where you clearly see the spike which I have highlighted with a green arrow upwards.

Right now we are seeing profit bookings in the financial markets and many a times the major indices around the world are tumbling and we are observing almost all the stocks trading in RED. And since I was getting a decent profit i.e. around Rs.10K+ I thought it would be wise to book profit and then invest later. I had closed to 35 shares of Kotak Mahindra Bank Ltd and I exited at around Rs. 1920/-. Check the following image on Total Sell Value and it should give you an idea.

Ok what next after having booked profit. Well simple answer is that I will now wait for the price of KOTAKBANK to fall from here and then would be buying in small chunks. Its not that I will invest all the money from the sale proceed in this particular stock but may even leverage the money to buy in other stocks so as to dollar cost average. My reason to buying this stock had to do with the company delivering good profit growth of 20.4% CAGR over last 5 years. Along with the brand reputation that Kotak bank holds in the country. IT ranks 4th in both deposit and gross advances market share when compared to other banks like State Bank of India, HDFC, ICICI Bank and others. Hence its not an exit from KOTAKBANK as of now its just taking the profit and waiting for a while to buy back at a cheaper price. Lets see how things pan out in near future for this banking sector stock.
