The Diary of an Amateur Lady Crypto Investor: Reflections on 5 Months of Hive Dollar Savings

in LeoFinance10 days ago

Hello everyone. How was your day? Hope it went well. Today I'll be sharing my reflections on my personal finances.

The HBD Saving Journey

Starting in December 2023, I joined a few other Hive friends on an HBD thrift savings. Each week, we all contribute a pre-agreed amount of HIve dollars to each participant successively. The rule was that the HBD should be earned not purchased and that was to primarily spur our social engagements on Hive. I chose to be last. For me, it was just a saving. At some point, I wasn't sure if I would be able to keep my part of the deal to the end, thanks to some friends who spurred me up each time.

The last batch of the 21-week thrift savings ended last weekend and I received a whooping $100 HBD. I did not believe that I could be that tenacious and disciplined to save up that much. That was the first time in my life I worked myself to raise such money. That meant so much to me and again points to the fact that I'm growing.

My Lessons

That single exercise has again opened my eyes to more we can get on the Hive Blockchain. That is, this Blockchain can serve many purposes if we know how to navigate our way. I did not just see that feat as a savings attempt, going deeper, it was a first push to becoming a crypto investor.

You may ask, "How does it make you a crypto investor?" I invest my time, creativity, and data on the social Blockchain - Hive. I sing, I write, I draw, I make crafts, I do tasks and share experience and I also learn to earn cryptocurrencies.

I've heard many young people around me complain that they could have done one project or the other if they could raise enough cash. Others say that their dreams are not running because they don't have a sponsor. My saving spree taught me that I could save up my way to fund my dreams if I was disciplined enough. I remember there were days I had lots of things to attend to as a student, but I just had to create time to write posts so I could earn HBD for the savings.

Spending my $100 HBD Saved

Do you want to know what I'm doing with my first $100?

  • I paid off my indebtedness for the weeks I could not meet the target
  • I withdrew for related expenses like data.
  • I subscribed for Leo Premium worth $10 HBD. I'll say more about this in a few days.
  • I'm contributing to my late mum's funeral 😥😢 I know you didn't expect that but I'm glad I could.
  • I'll sure make myself happy. I'll buy some personal belongings and make my hair as well.

In conclusion, my first five months as an amateur crypto investor have been a rollercoaster of emotions, experiences, and growth. I've learned valuable lessons, I was discouraged at some point and celebrated small victories along the way. As I look ahead to the future, I am filled with optimism and excitement for the possibilities that lie ahead. With a steadfast commitment to my goals, a willingness to learn, and a passion for the crypto space, I am eager to continue this journey and see where it takes me.

I want to say a big thank you to @startbiz. I successfully tasted the water and saw it could carry me. Here I'm getting prepared for the next phase. I'm not the girl who just tries to survive, this is me rising to take my life seriously and I'll be pursuing my dreams with passion till all of it comes through.

Thank you for reading through my blog.

Best wishes ❤️

very interesting piece. Great to see how you tasked yourself and stayed disciplined to save up for yourself. The result is just a little of more that can be achieved.

Cheers to the beginning of your journey as a crypto investor. You're in the right place for starters - Hive.
