How's my HIVE income strategy going?

in LeoFinance9 months ago

Around a month ago, I put out a post, looking at some HIVE income tokens I am aiming to accumulate. Feel free to check it out if you like. I figured it would be a good idea to give an update to see how I am going with this strategy.

So, here was the basic plan, from that post:

My plan is simple, accumulate as many of the above tokens into a separate account creatively named @jk6276.holdings. As I grow the token balance of this wallet, it will produce a completely passive, liquid HIVE income, which should steadily grow over time. That income will become my "cash-out" funds

A month later, have I stuck to the plan at all?

DAB

I completely missed the boat early on with EDS, and only recently changed that by starting to accumulate thanks to the second EDS mining token (EDSMM). Fortunately I've learned from that mistake, and got a good sized stack of DBONDs staked, and minting DABs. Here for the long term, to accumulate as much DABS as possible.

Missed out on picking up a bunch more DBONDS to boost my DAB production. I did grab 200, but was shaping up to get more and missed out. The next batch released sold out in no time, I think much quicker than anyone expected. No matter, I have also bought a few DAB here and there off the open market. Currently sitting on 34 DAB, in position 8 on the DAB rich list. My main motive here has been to position early, and so far so good.

My DAB holdings are currently bringing in between 0.8 and 1 HIVE per day. Hopefully, I can improve my position and be more ready when the next DBOND batch is released.

So far so good overall with DAB, would have liked a few more DBOND from the last sale, but it wasn't to be. The plan in general is working as expected. I'll expect my HIVE income to drop a little, as people that picked up more miners slowly overtake me on the rich list. In it for the lang haul.

EDS

Holding EDS tokens provides a weekly HIVE "dividends" and its tokenomics are designed to grow this income over time. The other nice thing about EDS is that there are multiple ways to mine the token.

Similar to DABS, EDS has been solid this past month. I have mined some, gained some from delegating HIVE to @eds-vote and picked some up off the market to move up in to the top 50. With 145 EDS currently, my next goal is to get to 200. Last week, the HIVE payment I received was around 0.8 for the week, and this will steadily grow each week.

Plan intact, EDS balance and weekly income growing steadily.

SPI

SPI tokens can be hard to come by, and the market has periods of low liquidity as holders tend to cling on to their tokens for life. Personally, due to poor fiat financial situations, I have sold most of my holdings. But I am now in a better position, and can return to growing my stack by working and contributing to the project.

Here is where I failed in my plan execution. In need for some quick fiat funds, unfortunately SPI was the easiest token for me to sell to raise some funds. Having mentioned poor liquidity in my last post, the fact that SPI is liquid (rather than staked) is both a good and a bad thing. With needing some quick funds, and buy orders in the market at the time, I was able to sell some SPI and cash out. Not ideal, and not part of the plan, but its ok.

Back to trying to build my stack after faltering again with SPI.

BXT

The BXT token, when staked, generated a daily HIVE yield which ranges from 10% to 16% APR roughly depending on the token price and activity levels. The nice part is this is "real yield" from income generated by the platform rather than inflationary token rewards.

I did pick up a few more BXT, however...

I have decided to unstake it and move those funds into other things. The yield from staked BXT has dropped, now under 8%. I have started building a position in the SIM/HIVE beeswap liquidity pool, and will shift these funds into that pool instead.

The goal of this wallet is to generate yield. I like the concept of BXT, but am looking for yields higher than what I can simply generate by powering up HIVE and curating content. BXT doesn't fit my criteria any longer, so those funds will be redeployed.

SIM/HIVE pool.

This position is a new position added to this wallet since that first post I made. I like this pool for a few reasons. The SIM portion of the pool gets counted to your SIM power in the DCity game. SIM power is basically a 300 average of your holdings of liquid SIM plus SIM in the pool. This SIM power is then rewarded with a daily liquid HIVE payout.

But that is not the only yield you earn from this pool. The pool itself also rewards liquidity providers with SIM (plus some other crap) each day - running at around 20% APR. So your can earn 20% on the full pool balance, plus the HIVE reward which is around 30% APR on the SIM part of the pool - meaning a combined 35% APR. Pretty nice.

Once my BXT unstake in a couple of days, those funds will be added to this position.

August plans.

Keep accumulating EDS, DABS and SPI from the mining and SPI from my role running a part of the Spinvest project. Hopefully avoid the need to cash anything out, aside from the yield these tokens generate.

I plan to bring some fresh funds over to HIVE from money I am taking out of my Cosmos investments. I am finding myself drifting more and more back to being mainly in HIVE.

What I am looking at to add to this wallet is the DRIP token. I still have to check it out a bit more, but It is firming up in my mind as the next addition to this wallet. It seems the token rewards DRIP stakers with both more DRIP, and also a swap.HIVE yield. A little more research to do, but Once I have some fresh funds available, this may be the next position.

In the comments on last months post, @cwow2 mentioned dCROPs. I haven't looked into it yet, but it could be another option to work in to this portfolio.

Anyway, overall this wallet is now worth over $650 and generating around 10 HIVE per week passively at the moment. Let's see how this months goes, and what moves I can make to build this up. Definitely not retiring on my passive HIVE income just yet, but keen to keep building this up.

As always, I'd love to here any feedback in the comments.

Thanks for checking out this post,

JK.

Legion and dhedge are pretty good for passive earning, you can also delegate HP to them for additional rewards. DRIP is another ive started accumulating lately too.

legion? can't find a token with that name

LGN is the symbol on HE.

Yeah, I think Drip will be my next target. With LGN, how frequent are the rewards? Is it a weekly drop, or monthly?

Monthly hive drop plus I delegate HP to them which gives me daily legion.

awesome, thanks for that info. 👍

Dhedge has moved on to DVS which makes one eligible for upvotes, seems like there is a bit of demand there so I guess the return isn't bad

Yea DVS is given in the dhedge drips and if you delegate HP to dhedge you get paid it for that too.

Will keep it on my radar, but working on other options at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion.

Cool cool, thanks for sharing!

Your welcome, thanks for checking out my post.

Plan intact, EDS balance and weekly income growing steadily.

EDS is a hidden gem.

EDS is so good - I was asleep when it launched and totally missed the boat. Finally realised what I was missing when the second miner token was released, and grabbed a bunch of them.

Better late than never I guess.

You got a good amount of Dbond though already! I manage to get 744 at the moment, 450 of them from the first batch, so got a head start :D
But I am also currently staking all of my DAB, so I can get more Dbond down the line without having to use liquid funds ^^

Drip is pretty nice, seems like the boys over there are doing a good job of being in different games :D
With Drip staked, you earned Drip and swap.hive, so thats quite amazing!

I am not sure dcrops is worth investing in, if you ain't playing the game.
The pool just works kinda like SIM. Playing SIM or being in the LP passively, is properly better than buying the Token of the market.
You can also delegate to dcityrewards at the moment to get SIM tokens passively ^^

Or as I can see some have already mention. Legion (LGN) is a really good monthly paying token aswell and you can delegate HP to get LGN at 15% APR :D

Yeah, I'm relatively happy with the DBOND stack - but 2000 sounds nicer than 1700. They got scooped up real quick, will be interesting to see how long they wait till releasing the next batch.

I'm pretty much settled now that DRIP will be my next position - its looking nice with the growth from more drip, plus some income in SWAP.HIVE.

I really like LGN, but at the moment I'm focusing on daily or weekly yields for the @jk6276.holdings wallet, as the income it generates is my "cash out" funds.

I know we are not meant to sell to fiat, diamond hands and all that, but my strategy is a bit different. Working on building a passive income flow to improve my fiat world finances.

Thanks heaps for your input mate.

2k DBOND does sounds nicer than 1700 ;) haha.

Neat! Drip are so far a good investment for me, not sure if its lasts though since its "new" :D

Alright, keep LGN in mind then ^^

I feel like you are meant to do with your crypto whatever you need to do with your crypto ;)
Selling it for fiat or what, doesn't matter. If you need Fiat and crypto can help you get there, you go do that :D
