The Secret Superpower For Content Creators

Who's ready for story time with Jongo???

Get ready, this is going to be a fun one....

Let's start with this little gem:

What's that Jongo? You may be asking yourself....

This is a little book I wrote back in 2007. And to this day, it's the best selling printed book about 'traffic exchanges'....Mostly because it's pretty much the only printed book ever about traffic exchanges lol

But yeah, my claim to fame is that I was a 'self published' author...Ego? Pride?

Nope, I actually used this book as my business card when I was on the internet marketing seminar circuit. Back in the mid to late 2000's, I used to go to events offline and I learned that one way to stick out was to give people a copy of your book, rather than business cards.

Hmmm, great idea I thought.....But how the heck am I going to write a book?

I started to look at my options...

I could hire a ghost writer, but that would get expensive and honestly, it didn't feel legit. Almost like cheating...

I could write a chapter a day...That seemed to be the gold standard on how to publish a book. Seemed like a lot of work....

But then I remembered, I had been writing an article or two each and every week since 2003. I had like 4 years of content that I could tap into. And I was then introduced to the power of re-purposing content!

But this story isn't about repurposing content, I wrote about that a few weeks ago....

Here's the kicker, I was able to dive into 4 years of content because I committed to CREATING that content, each and every week. I wrote a blog that in it's prime, was the 'pulse' of the traffic exchange industry. That seems egotistical to call it that, but it wasn't me that gave it it's brand.

Regardless, people looked forward to reading it and they knew, hell or high water, every week I would press publish. Back then, these things weren't even called blogs, they were called e-zines lol I'm dating myself....

And it wasn't because I was a skilled author. I never used proper grammar. And I end up using a lot of ..... (multiple periods at the end of sentences) in my posts! I truly believe to this day, my blog became popular because I pressed published, at the same time, every week!

People knew, there would be a new article published. They knew there would be a new issue of the 'e-zine' that they could read. They 'trusted' that I would show up, this week, and next and next and next....

This is a superpower!

And it's something we ALL can have!

Look, maybe you aren't the best writer in the world. Heaven's knows I'm not. You may not always know what to write about, what to blog about, what to rant about...

But you can CREATE anytime you want!

We are all allocated the same 1440 minutes a day, and how we choose to used those precious minutes will determine our futures. So right now, while I'm writing this....I'm tired man!

I got off work earlier, being outside in the hot sun all day....But no matter what, I'm going to produce content!

No excuses from this guy. I made sure my kids were fed. I made sure the dog was walked. Now it's time to allocate those precious minutes into something I know will be a massive benefit to my family and I in the future. I CHOOSE to add value (or attempt to at least) to the blockchain....Every day!

You don't have to produce every day, but my goodness make the commitment. Stick to it. If it's every second day, do it. Every week, do that too. We have all these amazing apps to create with, just make the commitment today to PRODUCE regularly!

I'm sure your future self will thank you :)

Thanks for the post and what a creative way to market yourself with the faux business cards 😆 that made me crack up and I'm sure there are still some people that remember you for it.

Yeah most of the people I gave them to, still let me know they have a copy lol

I totally agree with you. It's important to make a commitment to producing content regularly, even if it's not every day. Whether it's every second day or every week, just stick to it. Your future self will thank you for it.

Yeah exactly. Maybe it's not every day, but the important thing is the schedule and sticking to it.

Hey @jongolson, here is a little bit of BEER from @edgerik for you. Enjoy it!

Learn how to earn FREE BEER each day by staking your BEER.

That is an interesting way to make a book but it does make sense. You can write down everything and then summarize/choose what the book really needs.

You are superman! I could not even able to do half of what you have done. Mind you I am good at technical things yet not the same results lol. Good to see that you wrote a book. I wrote once on the tech topic, did well for 2 years then tech changed and that is apply to todays time anymore. I have to agree, nothing beats the hustle and the hardwork. :)

Commitment is what puts on the mindset of being consistent and showing up everyday. I'm sure many creators don't feel like showing up everyday but we show up anyway because of commitment. I really don't want to let my future self down. So I will keep showing up and stay committed.

I have noticed that when I create content on a consistent basis I do receive more upvotes than if I skip days between.

Also, this is why I do not always like to rush anytime I want to write. I just always make sure that I write whenever I am inspired or anytime something comes into my head

That idea of the book as a promotion is a bold idea. It is clear that constancy is a powerful tool for the creator.

Consistency is key!
