“Life has an interesting way of pulling its strings.” This is my go-to phrase whenever something seemingly unpleasant happens. It is difficult to say with precision the exact date I formed this quote. Regardless, it has been guiding me for a while now. I use it in my daily life and most times I include it in my posts. Yes, life has an interesting way of pulling its strings. Sometimes, we get what we want (things go our way), other times we don’t. That’s just life being life. Growing up, I’m sure we all had dreams and aspirations. While some people are still in line with their childhood dreams, others have diverted and changed dreams due to one or two reasons.
As children, we all had big dreams and crazy ideas about what we wanted to be when we grew up. We had crazy ideas cooked up in our heads. My friends and I would talk for hours about our imagined futures - some of us wanted to be soldiers, some wanted to be priests or nuns, and others had silly ideas. For me, my dream job ideas were heavily influenced by the movies I watched. I grew up watching American action movies. I watched all terminators. At one point, I wanted to become a soldier, you know, an action hero like Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Let’s add a little bit of spice to this. I’m a big cartoon and movie lover which explains why I used this example: while wandering on a lonely road, you find a shiny golden cup. Curiously, you picked it up and rubbed it. Boom! A genie appears. Unlike the usual genie with 3 wishes, this genie can only grant you one wish- your dream job.
Let’s add a little spice to it. Imagine this scenario- you find a golden cup, rub it, and a genie appears. This genie, however, is quite different from the usual genies - he tells you that he can only grant you one wish. Not just any wish, he can only grant a “dream job” wish. Knowing that you have to choose carefully, what would you wish for? What is your dream job? Are you currently working in that field or has life changed things?
If I could have any job in the world, it would definitely be a medical or nurse. Ever since I was a child, I’ve always had a passion to treat people and take care of those in need. My family has a long tradition of working in the medical field, so it's no surprise that I grew up with a deep admiration for the profession. My mother, in particular, was an inspiration to me. She is a good woman and her patients love her. She is always dedicated to her work and I enjoy watching her work. I adored her. “One day, I want to be like her.” I’d always day to myself. ' Her dedication to helping others inspired me to pursue the health line. Well, I started the journey, but I opted out due to reasons best known to me. What I realized is : although I’ve crashed the dream of becoming a medical doctor, that doesn’t stop me from helping others.
