Threads: On Pace to Onboard 10,000 New Users At Current Rates

If you've been following along with our official updates then you'll know three things:

1. The new LeoFinance UI (Project Blank) has been released to Open Alpha and people are... excited, to say the least
2. Our mission as a team and community in 2023 is to achieve 5,000 Monthly Active Users (currently ~500 MAUs. So onboard 4,500 more)
3. Using Threads is fun af

We've been causing some massive noise on Hive and even over on Twitter in the small circles that Hive exists there. Right now, it's mostly existing Hive users that are being onboarded to Threads.

Open Alpha is still progressing through the phased roadmap that we laid out. If you started using it on day 1 and look at it today, then you likely have already seen some of the updates we've rolled out - a bunch of bug fixes, the new "Post" button, the Account Switcher, a logout button ;), etc.

One of the things that we haven't yet rolled out is LeoInfra onboarding. If you don't know, you're about to - LeoFinance built what I believe to be the best method of onboarding new users. It's Hive Lite accounts. You can see it live on the production UI (https://leofinance.io) but we haven't pushed the latest version of it to the Open Alpha yet.

The newest version of LeoInfra improves on the previous and brings a lot of features that will make onboarding even easier. So while a lot of the new users joining LeoFinance are already existing Hive users, that's going to change very quickly in the coming weeks as we roll LeoInfra out.

Threads: On Pace to Onboard 10,000 New Users At Current Rates

Okay I teased you with the title a bit. Thanks to Tonimontana, I got to get some nice clickbait. It's not untrue though - at the current rate of growth since the Alpha UI launched, we're seeing 30 new Threads users per day (people who never Threaded before on Hive who are now trying it out).

If we keep this pace - just 30 people per day - we'll get 10,000 new users onboarded by the end of the year. Seems doable, right?

Definitely a good sign as we're just in Open Alpha and things are far from perfect. We have a noticeable lack of bugs but there are also a lot of not yet features that are still waiting to be released on the UI.

Onboarding Communities

A lot of the growth of Threads has been from onboarding Hive communities. There are already a bunch of communities on Hive that are now coming to the new LeoFinance UI and are excited to keep building out their community.

How does it work?

To build your community on Threads, it's super simple. It actually works the same way Twitter does - you just co-opt one of the hashtags.

So if your community is #spanish, then you bring them over and tell everyone to use that Hashtag. In fact, @eddiespino is one of the community leaders that we've onboarded and delegated some LEO POWER to. His community growing efforts have already landed the #spanish tag in the top 5 trending tags and thousands of LEO are being distributed to community members who use it.

This success story can be your success story. Threads is all about engagement. We all used to engage off-chain - on Discord, etc.... Hive has never had this kind of raw, 1-on-1 type of engagement before and I truly believe that it's a game changer for daily use of this blockchain.

We'll keep giving out LEO POWER delegations to community leaders who make real efforts to adopt Threads. We'll also be increasing delegations to people like Eddie who are showing daily commitment to growing their presence on Threads.

We love to see this expansion of LEO holders - in fact, check out the latest @leogrowth post to see how LEO token holders have expanded. The "middle-class" that everyone always talks about continues to expand as we see new holders gaining stake in the platform.

What I Love About Threads

Engagement on Threads is so amazing. I feel like there is a far more personal touch to using Threads than using Hive blog posts on their own.

Now I feel like we're all talking to each other as a community and getting to know each other. The personal content that you can post when it's just "throwaway" short-form content is amazing.

For instance, my blog posts are always relatively serious topics. I talk about LeoFinance. I talk about finance. I talk about investing.

My threads are often more personal. I just threaded the other night that I saw the new Ant Man movie and liked it. I even threaded about sitting in the sauna and curating Threads while I sweated out some tequila.

Life is just more fun when you Thread.

So Where Are We Headed?

We spent 2 years building this thing. We've got a lot of work left to do on the tech side but the bulk of making Project Blank a reality has already been done.

If you've used https://alpha.leofinance.io, then you already know this. It's STUPIDLY fast. The backend architecture is amazing and the frontend is a beautifully intuitive experience.

The next step in our master plan? Onboard 5,000 Monthly Active Users by December 2023. We're already more than on pace to achieve it... Will you help us, fren?
