I got some money yesterday for a project I've been working on, and I decided to power-up the whole lot of it.
My Christmas Goal Has Been Hit
I have mentioned before that I had a goal to hit 10k HP by Christmas, and while I wasn't sure if I'd be able to do it, I thought it was a good goal to set, especially compared to how much my account has been growing over the last year.
Since January I've been posting every day, in an attempt to get my yearly badge for posting every day of the year. There are only 12 days to go, not including this post here, so I think I'll be hitting that goal too.
This year has been amazing, I have managed to stay active here on Hive, and with the posting I've noticed that my stake has risen so much more than I thought possible, and more so than that, I have increased my writing skills due to the sheer amount I've written this year.
Fiction is my main form of content, but I also do some Game, Film, and TV reviews/ first impressions/ scene breakdowns. I also write a bunch of lore/ worldbuilding on the world in which I write my stories. Occasionally I like to rant, complain, and talk about some stuff, and sometimes I like to share pictures of places I've been. I'm also partial to sharing a few tunes with the community, on a Tuesday. In general, I don't solely write one type of content and tend to spread myself around a bit. Which is good, because I'm never stuck for something to talk about.
Powering Up
I was thinking of waiting for HPUD, but I decided to just go for it now, rather than leaving the best part of 3,000 Hive sitting around doing nothing.
Hitting this goal I set is amazing, and knowing that I'm only 12 days from hitting a much larger goal has also filled me with so much confidence.
There's an amazing feeling when it comes to achieving goals, and especially long-term ones!
I started today with 1,000 HBD, which I got paid the other day for some work I've been doing. I knew this payment was coming, but I wasn't sure when. I also have some more payments awaiting, which will also be powered up as soon as I get them.
I got a pretty good return, I think the price of HBD was about $1.02 and the price of Hive was $0.34 cents. So the conversion rate was decent and allowed me to get a bit more Hive per HBD.
Rather than powering up every bit of Hive I had, I decided to do 2913, as that would give me a nice even 11,000.
There we have it! With this new power-up, I've noticed that my VP bar raised a bit, I'm not 100%, but it seems like I'll be able to cast more votes than I previously had.
Before The Power-up
So, before this when I had about 6.5k usable HP, I was gaining about 40 Hive a month for curation. With this new amount though, I think I'll be getting about 60 - if not more - each month.
That's about 720 HP a year I'll be earning just from my curation + the APR that comes from it.
I could end up getting more than that, so I'll have to monitor it and see what HiveStats says by this time next month.
Regardless of how much I earn per month, I think it's great to be able to give back to everyone here. My upvote is now about 0.13 which is amazing, considering this time 2 years ago it was only 0.001 cent.
I'm absolutely over the moon with this increase, and I'm glad I decided to just do it now rather than wait for the 1st of January.
I might have earned some reward had I waited, but since I have nearly (71) rep score, I don't get anything for participating in HPUD. Although, regardless of that, I still enjoy joining in and powering some Hive up, mainly just for the community spirit of the day.

I remember that I congratulated maybe 3 weeks ago for reaching 8K and you made another huge jump to 11K!!! That's awesome! As you said, with bigger HP, your curation rewards will go up too, which means even faster HivePower growth!
That is just the "relative" bump of that power-up, at that moment... You will have the same amount of upvotes as you had before, but they will be more valued! (around 11 full upvotes per day... that's the pace of VP regeneration)...
I see 20K HP as your next short-term goal! 😃

To he honest, I could have 20k before I know it. I might take the next payments and power them all up. Not 100% yet though.

That’s amazing dude keep it up! Posting every day for a year is an incredible feat! I remember when I started and now I just keep it going instead of giving it up! At the end of the month this month it will be 3 years of posting every day which is wild for me haha.
Really happy to see this significant milestone for you and absolutely your curation rewards will kick up nicely! It’s a great compounding effect and some days you’ll get more than others but overall it’s a healthy increase and will pay off in the quicker growth of your account. The other thing that picks up as well is the hive power inflation. You get a stronger effect of that 3% the more your HP grows.
Looking forward to what you got coming up in the next year man! I haven’t visited your fiction stuff as much as I would like but I’ll give it a whirl when I can!
That is a major feat man, 3 years! I was considering going for year 2 but didn't think I had it in me, and also the disappointment of letting a 2 year+ steak drop would be devastating. Although, in saying that, deciding to let my current streak fall may be pretty devastating too.
That's the thing man, I've already been noticing the growth that comes with having a decent stake, but with this new addition to it, I think I'll notice it tenfold.
I've been gathering up all of my fiction intending to edit it, and then hiring an editor who can help me out by giving it the once over before self-publishing. I have a Novella that I'm coming to the end of now, and I think that'll be the first piece of work I publish. I think if I cut my posting down to 3-5 days a week, I'd have more time on my hands to edit my work so far.

I've already been noticing the growth, but with this new power-up, I think I'll notice my growth increase from curation.
Yeah, having many different topics to talk about is the thing that helped me this year, I think if I was forced to only write fiction, or something like that, the fun and enthusiasm may have died down by the 6th month or so.

Yeah I think the confidence boost that comes even on a personal level is amazing, but I'm sure for the wider Hive community it's great to see people take big leaps like this.
It's oddly addicting, and I've found that with each 100HP my account grows, I get a bit giddy, so to see it grow to this amount in one day has been a rush.

How much HP is needed for new account creation tokens?
You're not too far off, and you'll find your account grows astronomically as your stake gets larger. When I got to about your HP I really noticed it snowball. I'd say if you posted every day and stayed active here you wouldn't have a problem hitting 10k.
I'm actually not 100% sure how much HP is needed for account creation tokens, but I know that @steevc might have the answer. I think with your level you should have a few creation tokens, but I'm not 100% sure how they work.
Peakd's auto claim setting says I don't have enough but does not specify how close I am.

I bounce around a fair bit, which is the only way I've been able to make it this far into the daily posting. If I was only writing one or two types of content, I think the fun would have been sucked out of it within the first few months.

I've been pretty lucky this year, while things have been hectic, I've managed to find about an hour a day for some writing. Thank god for the phone app, because sometimes I write the bulk of a post on the bus, and then edit it when I get on the computer or laptop.
There have been some days where I've literally gotten something published about 5-10 minutes before 12 haha
