The party encounters the monster Straddle, a distorted creature with a face protruding from its chest. They recognize him as a former grower who has been exiled, and they notice that he has been in a skirmish with Kazamer soldiers. They also notice that he speaks a strange language, Verdanian, which is often only spoken by Growers as it allows communication in any type of body form. Straddle clearly gets angered by Belovian weapons, but appears to be peaceful otherwise. After a short deliberation the party decide not to battle him, and they move on. However, to prevent Straddle from attacking them they are forced to leave their (cursed) Belovian weapons behind..
The outcast behemoth (mutated grower) named Straddle.
A while later, they arrive in a Kazamer encampment, where they find a contract from Tarik to officers of the Kazamer army. The contract appears to be a leasing agreement for Belovian Weapons between the Marbledem Swordworks and the Kazamer Legion, which permits the Legion to use the weapons if they return 50% of the war spoils to the Swordworks.
In the encampment, Hugo Antillez discovers a blood trail. Valdirim follows the trail through the woods, and walks for 8 hours before discovering a mouldy cave near an overgrown hill. The party subsequently regroups, and decides to explore it. Inside the cave they find two merchants: one dead and one alive. Hugo notices loose soil in the rear wall, and tunnels behind. After a brief dig he discovers a Metahound. Realizing that Metahounds seldom travel alone the party quickly retreats. As they exit the cave, they notice 10 more Metahounds appear from the tunnels.
The merchant that they found in the cave turns out to be the trader Adamis, who led the trading caravan from Toth to Red Delta. After a while he recovers and signs a contract with Hugo, who lends him money to get his business back. Adamis returns interest and political support for Hugo, to become an official Envoy of Toth. The party also discovered two Tothian soldiers: both recover, but one of them has a debt of 5 crystals.
Party agrees to escort the merchant back to Toth, and take both the merchant and the two soldiers (Henry and Jim) to the town of Sylophore. Once arriving in the Grower town of Sylophore, Kyra meets up with her old friend Mif Surov. Mif explains about the troubles facing the Marbledem Swordworks and cures the trader Adamis from his injuries as a friend’s favour..
The Tothian trader Adamis.
Lieutenant Drusus fled the camp battle with Straddle, and is still missing…
