Jumping on every opportunity to avoid unnecessary spending, Does that make you a bad friend?

I feel this post will be more understood and relatable by men, especially Nigerian men. At this point or stage in my life, I am doing everything possible to avoid unnecessary billing or unnecessary overspending for so many reasons, the major one is that less than 2 months from now I will be renewing my house rent so I do not get evicted and might sleep on the street or move back to my parent's house which a lot of states away from the state I relocated to early last year and that is not the dream of any man to move back to their parent's house and yes in Nigeria our house rents are paid per annual not monthly like most countries in the world.

The next reason is that today is my Birthday and I am honestly low on cash to do any celebration because of the first reason I stated above, yeah "Happy Birthday to Me". My plan for today is to be thankful to God that am alive to see a new year added to my age and just have a few friends over to gist, chill, and have fun in my house or apartment, nothing fancy because of the money implications. To make matters worse the person who borrowed the money I was saving up for my home upkeep and birthday celebration 5 weeks ago and promised to pay back the next day has not paid until this very moment and this ungrateful person has stopped picking up my calls and replying to my messages.

So when one of my ungrateful friends brought an unnecessary bill to my doorstep I jumped at the opportunity to avoid it, a few days ago that my ungrateful friend of mine interrupted my beautiful sleep around 2 a.m., and her friend she was staying at her place looked her out for reason best known to them asked me if it is possible to come over to my place to sleep and like over you can come so you do not sleep on the streets. She called me that she was at my estate gate which is very far from my house, and I told her to pay for the cab that brought her and that I was walking up to my estate gate to pick her up. This ungrateful and entitled human started insulting me because she thought I would be the one to pay for her cab fee like I usually do for her anytime she came to my place.

Now, this ungrateful human forgot I sent her my last available cash earlier that same day because she said she had not eaten and her friend told her not to touch the food she made since she is not paying rent. As she started insulting I just made a U-turn back to my house to continue my sleep because she is obviously not a serious person at that point. For someone that anything she visits my house the billing and overspending are something else, I just at the opportunity to avoid that overspending and left her to her fate while she was insulting me. Does what I did make me a bad friend? 'Hell No" because I choose myself over an ungrateful human.
