Why Hive?...Revisited

Hive For What?

From the outside looking in I get it. Outside of a loyal user base, there is no hype train behind Hive. Aside from collective community efforts, there is no marketing machine. There is no charming leader to persuade the masses (while he makes backdoor deals with investors). With this in mind, I can't blame anyone for raising the question.

So why choose Hive over the other 10,000+ cryptos listed on CoinGecko.com?

When talking about all the positives for Hive, there's different ways to approach it. Developers, bloggers, gamers, traders, or investors, all have tools at their disposal in this ecosystem.

Even though https://whyhive.co/ does a great job of answering that question, it may come off a little too technical for a complete newb. So here's my reply to that question for those that are new to the game.

Why Hive?

Complete Web3 Experience

Hive offers a complete Web3 experience. By creating an account, you receive an immutable user profile that gives you access to all applications in the ecosystem. These apps allow content creation (text & video), NFTs, DeFi, blockchain gaming, and more.

Absolute Ownership of Account/Profile

The account you create on Hive is owned by YOU. There is no corporation between you and your account. This means your profile, wallet, and content are assets that you have absolute control over.

Great Place to Learn and Network

Hive has an engaged global community that is full of people from all walks of life and all experience levels that have one thing in common, they believe crypto and blockchain tech is the future. With endless niche communities within the whole network, finding your tribe should be easy.

Earn From Creating and Curating Content

With its innovative reward system, Hive allows content creators and curators to earn the HIVE digital asset by posting and/or engaging with content.

Battle-Tested Blockchain

Hive is one of the most battle-tested blockchains in the market. On top of surviving multiple bear markets, Hive has eluded a hostile takeover from Justin Sun with collective community action and has left a US blockchain mining company with the same name (Hive Blockchain) stumped because when they tried to file a legal claim, there was no one to sue. They recently hung it up and filed for a name change lol.

Stake = Ownership/stake of the Network

On top of owning your account and content, any HIVE holdings you have represent actual stake in the network. The more stake you have, the more weight you hold in the ecosystem. Imagine if all content creators on your favorite social media app received actual “shares” of the company for contributing to the network.

Ability of Create Your own Web3 Community

Hive allows users to build their own Web3 communities on top of the network. By minting a community, you have access to your own community page where you can onboard your fans, followers, clients, etc. The reward system allows you to incentivize your community to post and engage. With a little consistency, many Hive communities have become their own economies.

DeFi Opportunities

Because of its social foundation, Hive is transparent by default. This makes it a great place to start when getting into DeFi. There are many lower-risk (in terms of cryptocurrency) opportunities to make passive returns in the ecosystem.

If you could add a few more points what would they be? Comment below...
