I use to write posts on LEO back on Steem but I have not been active here on Hive.
With the turn of the new year, I am making a new commitment to coming back to the LEO community and discussing my thoughts and views on crypto & other investments.
Today I want to talk about all the buzz around so called Crypto games. I have played a bunch, here on Hive, on ETH, on other chains.
They are all based around the crypto tech and how to just put a pretty face on it.
I have seen a lot of pre-sale's were companies take money from "investors" and run. (like a pump/dump scheme)
I have seen amazing 100% blockchain games like NextColony were everything is recorded on the blockchain.
I have seen the spawn of Hive-Engine games that use the Hive-Engine token model to get players with the promise of a potential return on their investment.
I have seen new games announced at HiveFest that follow these models.
I feel all of these games may do okay but are missing one main ingredient for success.
They are missing GAMERS!!!
Gamers will spend money/time to play games they love. The so called gamers in crypto games from my point of view are nothing more than "investors" looking for a return.
While there is nothing wrong with this (why else are we all here??)
I think that in 2021 to unlock the true potential of what gaming can add to the Hive blockchain we need something that we do not have right now.
WE NEED GAMERS ON THE BLOCKCHAIN!!!
So how do we do this???
We need to find projects that are building projects that will attract gamers.
@simplegame talks about his plans for "universal NFT's", this would be an item you buy in one game that works in another game.
An example would be you buy a basic Home in Dcity and that basic home can be transferred to a new game let's call it PetVille. The basic home now let's you have start with 2 pets instead of 1.
The basic home is no longer in Dcity but resides in PetVille.
My next post I am going to go into the Term NFT and what we need to know for making intelligent investsments.
I feel projects that are building out gaming worlds and moving the blockchain tech to the background will be able to draw in gamers from outside the crypto space and if this happens it will be huge for us.
Also games need to use Hive/HBD as their in-game market currency. There really is no need to create a different currency.
Some of the New games announced at Hive-Fest look like they are using HBD. This is super exciting! It adds another use case for HBD.
People ask all the time what will increase the price of Hive/HBD. It is USE CASES!
We need to have use cases out scale all the dumping of Hive from the top witnesses and the DAO onto the exchanges.
So what do you think?
Should Hive gaming stay the way it is?
or should we try and bring in GAMERS to the chain?

You are right about the gamers willing to spend money. It is huge business. This is what Hive needs to bring into the ecosystem.
Interesting idea about the Universal NFTs. I had not seen that. I will have to talk to @simplegames about that more. Could be something very revolutionary.
Makes sense from a logic standpoint and would only make the value of the NFT greater. I would think it would make coding of gaming easier since you could basically have a lot of plug and play options.

Yes I think Universal NFT's will drive the value of NFT's to higher levels.
Plus an added benefit is if one game disappears. Your NFT's still hold some value.
