It's time for another quarterly stocktake of my blogging adventures on Hive.

As a quick introduction, I made my first post on 29 Sep 2021 and it was an introductory post about my Splinterlands journey. Since then, it has been more than 9 months and I have been actively posting and curating on Hive.

And I just want to say how grateful I am to be making friends within this community and receiving so much support, be it in the form of upvotes, comments, or even sharing of new knowledge.

So here's what I have been busy with over the past 3 months (in order of my involvement):

  • Splinterlands: I have continued with my Splinterlands-related postings, including the weekly challenges, crunching card probabilities and statistics, and free card delegations! Feel free to check them out under my posts if you are in need of card delegations!
  • Scholar and Scribe: S&S is a community about creative writing and I have been posting my weekly chapters of my story (The Legend of Doria) over there and I can't believe it's at Chapter 42 already! I have gotten to know some talented writers over in the Discord and it's really a fun place to be! There are many writing contests and I am glad to say that I have been sponsoring some of the prizes too!
  • Freewriters: I have been diligently writing ZapFic entries for the Monday and Friday editions and I was extremely glad to be recognised as the winners/runners-up in a few of my entries.
  • Weekend Experiences: This was something new that I chanced upon this quarter during my random browsing of the Hive posts. The Weekend Engagement posts are quite interesting and I think the curation committee are very generous with all the rewards when they see writers putting in effort to write a good post!
  • Workerbee Staking: This was also something that I came across this quarter, which is a project by @ph1102. By staking WORKERBEE tokens with him, you get BEE tokens in return and some additional rewards too. Feel free to take a look at his latest post for more details.

Now onto the financial aspects of my blogging experience, here's what I have accumulated so far as of 4 Jul 2022 (at time of writing).

Hive Wallet

TokenAmountPriceUSD
HP5320.446237.27
HBD3170.972308.12
Total545.39

This has been an amazing quarter in terms of the accumulation of HP and HBD. In the past 3 months, I have accumulated 278 more HP and 133 more HBD in my Hive Wallet. This takes into account transfers of Hive and HBD to external wallets and from Hive Engine tokens (which I have elaborated below). Even though the price of Hive has fallen from 0.979 to 0.446, my Hive Wallet has grown from USD 431.20 in the last quarter to USD 545.39 currently.

Transfers to External Wallets

In the latest quarter, I also explored the steps on how to cash out from Hive into the platforms such as Metamask or Crypto.com wallet should the need arises in the future. So far, I have made some test transactions and have transferred 2 HBD out of Hive.

Hive Engine Wallet
*only included tokens with substantial values, i.e. above 1% of my Hive Wallet (USD 5.45)

TokenAmountUSDDescription
SCRIBE14193.01Curation under Scholar and Scribe
LENM1226.75Investment (Funded with 45 HBD in Q1 2022)
SPT13,9699.43Curation under Splinterlands
BEE31.46.87Curation under Hive Engine and Staking of WORKERBEE
WORKERBEE56.09Investment (Funded with 4.66 HBD in Q2 2022)
Total142.15

Have included a column this time to provide a description of the tokens so that it helps me keep track of my involvement in various projects.

I have continued to accumulate various tribe tokens such as SPT, ONEUP, SCHOLAR, SCRIBE, BEE from my posts. Like I have mentioned before, unlike Hive and HBD, tribe tokens in the Hive Engine Wallet are more susceptible to massive price swings and have poorer liquidity, so these USD values are just for reference (i.e. likely lesser if I would to divest all at one go). This is also why I have separated the totals between the Hive Wallet and Hive Engine Wallet.

Something new that I have done in the latest quarter, would be to divest some Hive Engine tokens, and convert them to Hive. There are two main reasons to this. The first reason is because I realise most of the Hive Engine are seeing a decline in value (in terms of Hive). The second reason is converting to Hive not only helps to preserve some value (from the price decline), it also boosts my vote power and allows me to vote on good posts regardless of the tribe tags.

Grand Total: 687.54

Finally, the grand total increased to USD 687.54 from USD 550.12 a quarter ago. I guess you could say there's some steady progress. :)

As always, thanks for reading and have a pleasant day ahead! See you in the Q3 update!
