The Money, the time and what not..

Schools reopened today after a long time - two years passed at home and last few days have been absolutely busy preparing for the school reopen. There was lot of anticipation about the online mode of education still continuing, but seems all of it is about to come to end. Unless we are hit hard again with a new Covid wave. Getting the books, uniform for them, putting up a schedule has been a tough task in last few days. We even tried to get them from stores outside, but still could not find the school shoes for my daughter. All most all stores have run out of stock, such is the demand. It appears, all parents want to send their kids to school - may be the biggest reason being taking them back to their regular life , the non-digital life. Covid changed their life a lot - what was once prohibited for them, was given on their hands - the laptop, the mobile with high speed internet. And now they don't want to give them up. And along with all the digital media, the food from Mom's kitchen in father's comfortable mess - who would not love it. But this is not the time for them to enjoy a comfortable life. Instead they need to face challenges to learn from it to make them a better person. So probably the only way forward is to go back to the offline mode - the ideal way of schooling which the kids used to enjoy before Covid. It's not easy to take all these instantly from them - with time, they will again adjust and go back to normalcy and forget about the digital life. Forcing them to leave all these comfort suddenly is no longer a choice for us - they show negative signs. They are not like us - they are a new generation. So we have to steer the situation in a little different way - make rules, follow discipline but then also give a little flexibility along with encouragement and rewards.

My daughter was pretty excited about going back to school - she loves the offline mode because she can meet with her friends. Earlier we used to call her in the morning, but today she got up first and called us - even before the alarm rang. I am sure, she will quickly leave these digital life and go back to normalcy. I have to leave her first in the morning and I thought, going little early will help me avoid the harsh traffic, but you know the first day is always challenging. May be everyone thought like that.

Some people parked far away on the main road and had to walk , such was the situation. Hopefully things will settle in few days. Coming back I had to finish my walk quickly to take my son.

He is not very excited to go back to school because he feels, online mode is better, because its more comfortable. He even wish, the fourth wave should come and they don't have to go to school :) But hey man, this is not the time for comfort. Next few years are crucial in your life and if you play with your life now, then life will play with you. We have already given you the best that we can afford. So time for you to utilize them and earn the comfort for your later life.

Good education is the biggest investment of our life today. Every parent put all their effort to give their kids the best education - something I personally consider as the biggest bet of our life. There is a saying in my place - the holy basil’s seedling spreads it’s aroma right from the first two leaves! But what if you don't have it ? I mean, if you got exceptional kids, then you don't need to worry about anything - put them in any school they will come out distinguished. But if they are not exceptional, then you still have to invest your best to make them a better person who can live their life with dignity. And its not only money, right ? You have to put your blood and sweat - the effort, the time, the discipline and what not. When they grow young, if they can proudly say, Papa, you made me what I am today, then that is our reward, right !! Parenting is such a biggest risk that we all take - for that little reward that gives us meaning to live, live for them, to live for us.

Helping them to stand on their own feet in the crowd - When I went back to bring my daughter , I was wondering where she is in this growing crowd, but she found me. We are yet to get the Parent cards that will make things better, hopefully it should come in next few days. She was tired, exhausted but she was very very happy. And she wanted a little reward, so coming back, I had to stop by a store to get her what she wanted.

I know, the lady and me have to sacrifice many things with this new schedule, but that will be temporary, until we put up a good schedule and practice that specially for this summer - since both the kids have different timings. It's challenging, but we have to surpass this and make it better - that is how we teach our kids by showing them to put effort. I would love to hear from you about your experience of this new normal - I am sure, it will be a lot of fun while I go to bring my son - the teen has got eight and half our of work at school :)

Wow, that looks like some very busy times for Indian kids and their parents these days :) I was one of those kids that never liked going to school and was super happy about any holiday so I cannot even imagine what it is like to be home from school for 2 years! :D Wow. Absolutely unimaginable. So while I usually relate to your daughter´s opinions and attitudes, I will go with your son this time, definitely has the sympathy for him :) Also, what you say about education is generally true but not always. Look at me, for example. Despite not being a fan of school, I ended up completing several of them, including two universities but I can honestly say that it was my travels and stays abroad what has tought me the most so far. And it even applies to my jobs. I could perfectly do all the jobs that I have had even without my degrees. But maybe it´s just me, maybe it´s the not so efficient education system of my country, who knows... Anyway, I hope that your kids will get the best education, that they will not hate it and that they will actually use it later in their lives.

But maybe it´s just me, maybe it´s the not so efficient education system of my country, who knows...

Well, I can say, our education system is not very efficient as well but there are some reforms going on now - we realized it now - after seven decades of independence. We thought of changing his school but then Covid changed everything....

Yeah, we need some reforms too. The system is kind of fossilized with very little changes over the decades. But come on, the society and the lifestyle is changing super fast, the differences between the individual generations are huge so it should be natural that schools simply cannot be teaching the same things in the same ways as they did 50 years ago :)

Oh wow, such lovely kids, you have and they are so lucky to have a father as supportive as you. Also here we just started our face to face class and I'm one of those who are happy about it. I think if modular learning would take longer I will be ageing early😅.

I have to confess, this post excited me greatly. I am a school teacher, and today is the last day of Term before a two week break. It's been a long term, and consistently disrupted with students in mandatory isolation with COVID or as a household contact. I even had to have two weeks at home.

In the end, online learning might be helpful for a small handful of students - nothing can replace the face to face learning experience and the social interactions of our young people.

It's so wonderful to see your daughter's positivity - it seems her love of school is already reflecting a very good return on your investment.

Take care, Tim.

That's so true, school life should be so much fun, I am sure, every person would remember them.

It is good to go back to school, it's perfect way of learning that includes both the theoretical and the practical aspects, you can understand and ask your questions directly.

Exactly, the offline mode is much more engaging.

When primary schools in Africa opened after the pandemic, their students started going three times a week until they gradually got used to the situation.

Covid had a great impact on everyone's life, from little children to old age people everyone's schedules were disturbed but now everything is getting normal. You have said hundred percent truth that education is biggest investment of life.

Back to school is very important to interact with friends again and get away from isolation due to the digital learning world. It is important to take recreational tours, very happy for you 😊

I totally agree with your statement. A good education is the greatest and greatest investment a child can make. A child who has completed his education well knows how to succeed and adopt a child's future.

Good education is the biggest investment of our life today

Education really matters a lot in our lives and am happy your children are back in school

Offline is the best mode for the kids - they should go back to normalcy.

Going back to school after long period of time is really difficult. Things take time to get adjusted.

Every parent put all their effort to give their kids the best education.

That's the line which says everything.
Parents wants better life for their children , but children sometimes take it negative.

children sometimes take it negative

May be its their age that brings those temperaments , I can see that in my son, so I have changed my strategy - enforcing discipline and motivating or encouraging at the same time.

Wait a minute, @sanjeevm is it that schools are just getting re-opened cos of covid?

Education is the greatest investment anyone can give anybody. You've got fine kids by the way.My regards to them 😁

Yes, they reopened today after 2 years.

After 2 whooping year?? Wow.!
Anyway, I know the kids would be glad to be back in school.

Yes, my family, my wife and my children, this is the biggest acquisition and investment in my life, everything else ... dust and fuss. You have a very right attitude towards life, my friend, but, probably, not education at school, namely, the soul, creativity and the way children relate to life, this is much more important.

I do think offline mode is the best education. You learn more by social interaction. Whereas you are on the computer is lack of communication skills. Off course before all this no one had really thought of online tuition. It just takes some time, after which they are so glad back to offline mode !

They do have plenty of time in their life to go online forever. They need to learn about technology, but that should be very limited.

I'm really happy to hear India's schools reopened after long vacation. Covid19 stoped so many useful activities like as education. Yes, education is a most important investment nowadys society. Without improving knowledge children can't to useful things in future. So as a parent we have big responsibility to show right way to them through education and learning good attitudes.

Covid changed our life completely for two years - it would take some time to fall back to the old normal again.

Wow.. The crowd indeed massive.
I know that feeling when one has been of the physical system for a long period of time
One will really be eager to get back to school.. Funny your daughter did not even allow the alarm ring before she wakes.. Lol. That excitement is massive.. I am sure she didn't really sleep the whole night, her thought are about the whole school resuming thing.. 😂

She is pretty excited - she says its so much fun in the school. Life at home is boring. At their age, spending time with friends seems to be the best thing that they enjoy.

Spending their time with friends is actually the best thing that shouldn't be deprived.

Not interacting with their friends looks like isolation.. And nobody can grow when he or she is been isolated

Hahahaha, wow, your son does not particularly look enthused, but hey! Life would eventually continue. I admit Covid created a sense of comfort amongst people, it was difficult to gradually slide into the life we use to have after so many years of shopping online, schooling online and depending on technology to get things done. It's quite a positive feeling to start schooling again, COVID has been ground-breaking and hopefully we don't see another wave.

It's quite a positive feeling to start schooling again

At least parents are very happy about it, there was no way we could deny these electronic lifestyle to them.

Hahahaha goodluck to them, finally it begins.

Wow, that is a long time for children to be out of school. Covid has really cost us a lot, both students and teachers. Education is truly the best investment and legacy you can leave for children, thank God school is back now. And I think it's time to look forward from what covid has cost us and invest more in the things that really matters.

You are right, only the statistics matters to the government. I lost my job as a teacher during this period, and the parents of the students that I do tutor mathematics and science were also skeptical doing this period. So thay ask me to wait till government give approval for social activities to resume and it was really not funny. But I got another job as a safety and security personnel during that same period, where I guide people to observe covid 19 safety regulations.
Hence, it is we as individual that have to stand up to fight for our future and that of our children by doing the right thing and investing in our tomorrow. The kids will be so proud of us in future when they see how much we have contributed to their lives.

And I think it's time to look forward from what covid has cost us and invest more in the things that really matters.

Yes, at least personally we definitely need to focus more on what we need. For the government, it is just that statistics which matters.

Great to have some level of normality back again.

Yes, this life is much better than the locked life.
