People on X keep asking how a military helicopter and a regional jet couldn't see each other.
First, it was dark.
Second, jets travel much faster than cars. Imagine a car driving towards you at high speed, which would be low speed for a jet. How do you know which way to dodge until the very last moment?
They may have seen each other for a moment but had no time to dodge, or dodged in the same direction. You may have experienced a situation in which you almost bump into a person and you both dodge the same way, then do a little dance to yield way to each other.
There's also little space in which 2maneuver. It was a very tight fit for either craft, never mind both. No matter who is determined to be at fault (or what if it wasn't human error), it's a tragedy no matter what. Now we see DoT in action.
