Weekly savings round-up

It's been a busy week offline with the move and starting a new contract. I've just about unpacked, only the boxes to put into store now. It's surprising how tiring change is - lots of early nights this week and not much else.

The SPI Sale has closed and I think we've about used up the allocation which is great. I'll be publishing the allocations post tomorrow.

We had a Budget here in the UK (is it only me or does the Chancellor look a little crazed)? - the main feeling was lacklustre. There was a 2% drop in the National Insurance rate - this funds benefits and the National Health Service, so not a great move. One comedian described it as

What your nan would press into your hand when your mum wasn't looking.

Also a great impression of George Galloway, Georgeous George and his Fedora, by Mark Steel. Sorry, Rochdale, you deserved better.

You may be able to hear this episode of the News Quiz, depending where you are in the world.

2024 Savings Goals

Progress

  • EDSD - I'm aiming to hold 1,330 0f these as short-term savings to build my EDS and passive HIVE income. I bought 1,095 to start and then I buy 5 each week, using the recurring payments option on PeakD (up to 1,140 this week). (More about side-hustles).

EDS Dollar (EDSD) Release Post

  • Blogging - I feel quite motivated after getting the LeoAds payout 😂. Haha, yes, I'm sure it will come back when work has settled down.

  • Saturday Savers Club - 2024 Launch and FAQs. Forty-eight savers! Anyone can join at any time by commenting with their goals on the weekly post on the @eddie-earner account (also follow @eddie-earner for news about EDS).

  • HSBI - HIVE basic income - I'm growing these through sponsoring HPUD and other challenge posts over on Saturday Savers Club. A good turn out for HPUD this month, plus I'm back to sponsoring 3 HSBI on the Savers of the Week posts! We could do with another sponsor for one, two or three HSBI each week. Could it be you?

What's New

Well, I'm the other side of the move and the new contract, so that's good. The move was fairly smooth, everything was done and dusted and possibly the best journey I've had yet - about four hours with breaks. I'm booked on the train for the next time, it'll be interesting to see how that turns out. It'll be at Easter, and I'm planning some time in the garden.

Sadly, we concluded the wind-down of the charity that we have had to close a few days before the move, and we're in the throes of rescuing one of the funding agreements that we managed to extricate before liquidation. It's looking good, thanks to a colleague doing the leg work. I've put aside Wednesday to finesse the final proposal. Fingers crossed it's passed by Grants Committee on 27 March.

Have a good week, everyone!

Reading this I feel so out of touch with what's going on for you. 😢 Hopefully we'll get a chance to meet up this year and have a good catch up. Your savings goals look like they're going well. Well done! 💪

I feel a bit out of touch with it myself! It's been a difficult six months trying to sustain a charity that had lost its leadership team and run into difficulties - such a lot of work and in the end we had to give in. As I said in the post, we did manage to extricate a funding agreement and I hope we can hang on to that, it's so important.

I'm glad it's over or will be soon and I can get back to normal. The new contract is a transition job - much more low-key and quite therapeutic this month, although I think it has its own challenges, I just haven't been exposed to any of them yet 😁.

Between re-configuring the house, moving round the country and starting a new contract, I haven't had much time for making, so looking forward to getting in on the last 60 or 70 days of the #100dayproject. Or is it #100daysproject?

It's #the100dayproject. 😂 Would be great if you could join in. It's an interesting process. Not just from the creating side but from the way we set things up for ourselves, the rules we make up and then find it hard to break etc.

My friend I work with on Wednesdays set up a local charity. It's in it's second year and seems a lot of work to me. 😁

Sounds good that you can get back to normal soon. I've had a really challenging past year too. I think we're just about turning the corner now but it's been very hard. One thing after another.

Are you moving permanently or are you living between two places?

Sorry to hear you've had a difficult year, hope things are getting better. It is, as you say, one thing after another.

I'm living between two places. My dream is that both places are set up and I just catch a train between the two every now and then, rather than packing and driving.

Are you living between two places by choice or necessity? Just curious. Feel free to ignore the questions. 😍

In transition and can't make up my mind 😂

Welcome to my world. 😂 Although it doesn't include living in two places. That might just be the final straw in my fight to keep my sanity. 😂

Oh blimey, forgot the teamuk tag!

Ha, ha, ha. Yeah. It took me a while to remember to add it to my template. 😁

You’re progressing
I’ve not really benefited from the LeoAds payout but I surely know that I will

It is really great to always stay fit and keep things going

I really need to be serious with my life and destiny and begin to plan ahead

You can start any time 😍
