Leofinance User Interface Idea : casual user interface

My Suggestion for User Interface Changes for Leofinance: casual user interface

  • I created an account on Steem called casual user, which had one post with the posting key published in it.
  • The purpose was to facilitate or make it easy for visitors to actually post or comment on articles.
  • But that turned out to be to cumbersome and didn’t increase comments made by visitors.
  • I think a similar UI change could facilitate new user engagement, but I think it should be different from what I did..
  • I am suggesting that Leofinance combine the idea of visitors being able to comment with instant sign-ups.
  • So if you are a visitor to Leofinance, and you click reply, and you see a box open asking you to sign in or sign-up with your Twitter or Facebook ID and password.
  • This idea is similar to current Instant Sign-ups and just deploys it to the Leofinance UI triggered by reply to comments, if the person clicking reply isn’t already signed in.
  • ‘This would make it easy for visitors to start commenting on posts, and making it easy to signup here is just another way to add users.

Is this similar to the idea of a Hive Lite account?

Yes, but it piggybacks on that idea by triggering the signup apparatus to the Lite Accounts, so they can be commenting on articles and engaging in a minute.

This is an interesting idea. I also think that this will be a useful feature.

Thank you, I will pitch it to Khal and his team.

I don't think it's a bad idea and it would make it easier for people to foster some engagement on LeoFinance.

Thank you. I wrote this post after the AMA.

That's not a bad idea... not sure how it could be implemented, as I am not a developer. Still, anything that addresses the "it's too complicated" issue is worth looking into.

A while back, I suggested the idea of "light" Hive accounts that could be created instantly for comments/posting ONLY and would be protected only by a "normal" user chosen password that would only access your posting key, like a Keychain style variant.

You could still earn rewards, but you'd have to "graduate" to a "full" account to get to them. So no transfers, no witness voting, none of the technical stuff. Essentially, "light" accounts would live in a limbo sort of state until they were either upgraded to "full" accounts, OR some "inactivity time limit" was reached. If that inactivity limit is reached, any rewards in the account would be sent to null (i.e. burned).

Again, I don't know a thing about coding...

=^..^=

I love your response because Khal actually created Lite Accounts which function just like you describe. Those are the accounts I want to attach to replies, so people can start interacting with authors right away when they read something they enjoy or they have questions about.
