All you have to do is show up and be active.
This is something I came to realize in the past few weeks. Before I never commented much, and earned the occasional upvotes for my posts. Since I started actively engaging with others I did not only earn rewards on my comments but also got a ton of new followers and connections.
Showing up every day can be hard as well. Sometimes I really don't feel like posting anything. But reading and commenting should not be that hard at all.

I was a commenting fiend, but the comments were limited to just a couple of areas. I need to broaden my net for the comments I make. There are other things I need to do as well, and I'm looking for what they are.

There is a lot to do, but yes the more individual accounts you interact with the more your own network will grow. You just have to be ready to broaden your horizon.
