How To "Search" LeoGlossary

in LeoFinancelast year (edited)

This was a question that was posed about how to utilize LeoGlossary and, more specifically, find terms that are being sought.

How do you find terms or pull up links to add to articles?

There are 3 main ways I utilize that we will cover here.

1. Search Engine

The first method is to use a search engine.

I found the best approach is "Leoglossary" followed by the term.

Here is an example of looking for the page for bank. The first example is Presearch.

Now we have Google.

Then simply click through which will help the search engine to know the pages are there.

There could be the situation where a page is not indexed for whatever reason. Under this circumstance we have to use another method.

2. Main Menu

Our next option is to use the Main Menu page for LeoGlossary. Here is where all the pages can be accessed.

The first thing we see is the alphabet menu which has all the terms categorized. Simply click on the letter that relates to what is being searched and click on it.

Here is what "A" looks like.

The main menu page also has a list of glossaries on it. These have terms pertaining to Hive, blockchain and cryptocurrency, banking, real estate, and the Fed. There is also a link for Leofinance terms.

Of course, we cannot overlook SplinterGlossary.

3. Direct URL

The final approach is to use the set up of the URL for direct access.

Here is how most pages look:

The key is to change the last word, in this case bank:

Here it was replaced with money supply:

If the page exists the URL will take you directly to the page.

After a while you will have URLs lined up:

Warning:

There are a couple that do not align with the layout of the URL. SplinterGlossary has its own layout. Also, blockchain and cryptocurrency (and maybe a couple of others) have different formats in the URL.

Integration Into UI

Many have asked about integrating LeoGlossary into the new user interface. This is something that I cannot answer. The narrative is that it will be implemented at some point although unsure of how that will look.

The hope is that, at some point, we will get to where the links can be added when we are typing a post. Until we see that emerge, these are the best ways to find the different pages in Leoglossary.

Sometimes when my network is misbehaving and the Leofinance front end isn't loading so I can pick up the links for my post.

I visit Google directly and type for instance, " Money LeoGlossary", and the search results will reveal this 👇

Since the frontend wasn't working, clicking on the link to open will not work either, so I'll click on the three buttons to reveal the link address

Now, trying to copy the address, I discovered the method that works. If I choose the "copy link address", what I get is gibberish (lol). So, I'll choose the "copy link text".

It works every time. Then, I use Peakd to edit my post, adding the links as carefully as possible. And leave it on the draft.

When my network allows the front end to work again, I'll copy/paste and hit the publish button.

I hope this helps someone too.

I generally just go to the index pages and then do a control find. Of course, that is assuming that the terms that I need are there. At least that is what I tend to do for the splinterglossary when I use them in my posts.

Thanks for sharing

I found the different methods outlined here to be very helpful, especially using the search engine and the direct URL approach. I've not used these methods before but they seem to be quite effective and I hope to utilize them sooner .
