It is also good to mention, though outside the scope of this article, that HBD saving now earns 7% interest (and perhaps moving a bit higher). This is not offered on HBD held outside of savings.

Thanks! You are right, the interest for keeping HBD in savings should provide an incentive for people to have some HBD and move it to savings. That is in addition to the stable-ish nature of it, which in troubled times can offer more protection against volatility.
