Today was another productive day here on @run-a-muck-farms. Your favorite farmer dude finally got the greenhouse setup with solar power ready to get hydroponic pumps running! This is one of the old setups I used to use in my old vanlife days. If you have been following me for any good length of time, you remember those crazy adventures, lol. If not, well, just go look back in my main post feed, haha.
The solar panel itself is a 100W foldable panel setup that folds up into a briefcase sorta thing with built on legs that help it stand up on it's own without a frame. This panel served me well back in the day, and has continued to serve here on the homestead in the temporary spot I had it. Now, it's in it's rightful and final place!
This panel came with the charge controller mounted on the back of it as it was a travel setup, so I just kept it that way so I didn't have to rewire anything. I had to get some new sticky velcro for the back to attach the controller to the panel, and it was just like new!
I had to lift the entire greenhouse up about 2-3 inches so I could get the connections and cables under it, but it wasn't too bad even though it's driven into the ground with stakes on the corners. I may be a fat ass, but I am built like a small gorilla, so there is some muscles under the fluff, lol. Anyway, I got the cables ran under the frame, set house down, and ran them behind the big hydroponics rig.
Next all that was left was to connect the battery and inverter. This battery is the same one I used for years in the van, so it will most likely need to be replaced in the next few months, but as long as it runs these pumps, I am good for a while. I am just glad to know that LifePo4 batteries have come down so much in price.
Another completed task for the homestead! Things are really starting to come together here and I am happy with the progress! Next is to get some new seeds started, my others didn't sprout because I used the wrong starter soil... It's all a learning experience!
Until next project...
Be cool, be real, and always abide with you my dudes!
