well they see Hive as an application specific blockchain. They wanted to build everything on layer 1 with modular upgradebility. Here are some quotes from Andrew:

at the end of the day Hive is an application specific blockchain which is a fundamentally different thing. Koinos is comparable to Ethereum, Solana, Cosmos, Polkadot. There is simply no arguing with that. That’s technically true. Hive is comparable to stuff like Torum or whatever. Apps. That’s fine I don’t see why you would pretend otherwise unless you think there’s something wrong with being an application specific blockchain

Here’s a question no one in the Hive ecosystem seems to want to think about: If Graphene is such a great architecture, why are there so few projects using it? In open source, it’s all about the level of adoption. The more eyeballs, more developers, more engineers working on the codebase and building business on the codebase means fewer bugs and lower costs for everyone. The fewer projects using an open source codebase the more work is on those who do and the higher risk that bugs aren’t getting caught.

Also they think that the approach Hive is doing, relying on layer 2 chains, is the wrong way to go about it. It's definitely interesting how each side has come to the exact opposite conclusion :D

Sort:

Hive is comparable to Torum? lol wow. There's something I never thought I'd hear.

I actually never heard about it
