Happy May Day all! Seems we got another nice little bump in the HBD price to celebrate Power Up Day with, and it was nice enough that I was able to make a bigger than usual power-up, as well as powering up some $LEO too! I don't think it will be a record-breaking month as far as overall numbers go, but it seems like every month, more and more people are finding out about this fun way to build their stacks while investing in our blockchain home.
While I was pretty busy today with my turn at the @lovesniper helm (a wicked cool initiative from @ocd to help welcome new people to the blockchain), I was able to take some quick peeks & I saw lots of chatter on Hive as well as Twitter about people staking their coins. To me. that's even more exciting than seeing larger-than-usual power up amounts because I think getting people enthusiastic about staking their Hive makes for a more involved and dedicated community (if that's even possible, given how incredible it already is!).
As always, thanks to everyone who participated in any way, either by powering up, posting, shouting out on social media - all of it helps to shine a light on our blockchain home. Special thanks to @hivebuzz for always BEEing such an incredible buzz-maker for Hive Power Up Day, as well as all the other cool initiatives you do for our blockchain home!

And while participation was down slightly this month, all things considered it was another awesome result! 😊
We had 70 qualifying entries for the prize pool (slightly less than the 76 in April) with 125 total entries (compared to 131 last month) and 144 posts with either the #HivePUD or #HPUD tags on the first (down a smidge from last month's 146).
As for the overall number, the power ups ranged from 1.026 to 3,850 Hive Power, for a grand total of...
24,052.35 Hive Powered Up!
By comparison, the total in April was 26,667.630. To me, that's holding pretty steady for the past couple of months, especially since we're not seeing one or two huge power ups from whales in the 6 digit range. Instead we seem to have more dophins doing them in the 4 digit range, so I think that number is...
And I know I say it every month, but I'm so appreciative that I have to keep saying it, thank you to @jeanlucsr for bringing the idea to the @hivebuzz team, who then ran with it and made the Hive Power Up Day Badges such a buzz-inducing part of power up day! Every time I think they've outdone themselves, they turn around and do something even more amazing - like, awarding delegations to Power Up Day participants!

In keeping with how @streetstyle ran this, here is the UNOFFICIAL winners list for May 1st. If you spot any errors, or your powerup/post was somehow overlooked, please shout out as soon as possible.
On May 5th (towards the end of the day since this post is going out a bit later than I'd hoped) I'll post the OFFICIAL written-in-stone list, and at that time the sponsors can award their prizes (the complete list is in the announcement post, and I'll include it again in the Official Winners post tomorrow).

Congrats to all of the winners and it's projects like these that help make the platform strong. I'd just begun to realize that I'd never (knowingly) participated in HPUD and have now made the last two and plan on continuing as long as it's offered. ONWARD! :)

I was able to add 1% to my HP thanks to finding some crypto I'd forgotten. I want $HIVE to increase in value, but that makes it expensive to power up. It's good to see the smaller accounts growing. We need them as much as the big ones as word of mouth is vital.
