This bill aged like fine wine!

in LeoFinance9 months ago

A couple weeks ago I made a post talking about the Ten Thousand Dollar USD Bill, the biggest denomination bill ever printed by the United States of America, which has long been discontinued since 1969. Fyi, these bills are still considered legal tender so if you happen to own you could use it like normal money. Heh. 😅

Anyways. Here's a fun headline I stumbled upon today:

$10,000 Bill Sells for $480,000 at Heritage Auctions

Fuck! What a lucky a bastard. Half a million... For just ten thousand $

Here's a bit more info on the story:

An 1899 Twenty Dollar, PR67 Ultra Cameo NGC sold for $468,000 to lead Heritage Auctions’ Long Beach Expo US Coins Signature® Auction September 14-17, and a Fr. 2231-A $10,000 1934 Federal Reserve Note. PMG Choice Uncirculated 64 EPQ soared to a record $480,000 to lead Heritage’s September 13-15 Long Beach Expo US Currency Signature® Auction. source

Sounds like this bill has aged like fine wine... But has it though? Recently I heard the USD reached 3000% inflation over the last 100 years or something...

Let's find out by asking chatgpt 😅

How much 10000 USD in 1899 be worth today after adjusting for inflation?

To calculate the equivalent value of $10,000 USD from 1899 adjusted for inflation to today's dollars, we need to consider the inflation rate over the years. Please note that accurate historical inflation data can be challenging to obtain, but I can provide a rough estimate using a simple inflation calculator.

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics provides inflation data dating back to 1913. Therefore, we can only estimate from 1913 onward.

Assuming an average annual inflation rate of around 2.5% (a rough average), we can estimate the equivalent value of $10,000 in 1899 in today's dollars:

$10,000 in 1899 adjusted for inflation would be approximately equivalent to around $319,276 to $341,190 in 2023. Please keep in mind that this is a rough estimate, and actual inflation rates and values may have varied over the years. For a more accurate calculation, you would need access to historical inflation data prior to 1913.

Ha! Sounds like this particular bill did beat inflation.

I guess the moral of today's story is.. HODL 😂

It would be a nice collectors piece. But it would be certainly hard to sell due to the price it demands. Although at the right auction there could be buyers but it requires a lot of time i think.

I don't trust Heritage Actions. They were involved with the entire price manipulation of retro video games.

Price manipulation is everywhere these days 😂

As per my version of the coming U.S. Monetary Correction, if you were able to get your hands on $10,000 in Common U.S. Coinage , it will have the Spending Power of One Million of today's Fiat USD's on the "other side" of the Reset... Let that sink in for a while...

Wen reset sir?

The Reset will happen in the "Very Near Future"... There's very little Spending Power remaining in both Physical and Digital Fiat USD's...

That’s freaky cool. Bank notes in perfect condition go for big bucks. There’s a yearly auction held I can’t remember who holds it but there are bank notes sold for millions of dollars at it.

Millions? Well..fuck

Damn that bill is in amazing condition. Cool man!

Hodor of GOT also likes to HODL :)

I wonder what 10,000 pristine Morgan dollars would fetch? 🧐🧐🧐 likely over a million I’d say (at 100 bucks a pop) so buying silver was as smart back then as it is today 🍆

Yeah, but you would need a lot of space to hold those 😂

Good problems to have I’d say 😜🤑

It would be great to get a hold of this bill. Eventually the USD will be so devalued that the 500$ and $1k bill will return in circulation. So we may get a chance at getting those denominations soon enough. lol

Hehe, that would be fun to experience. Well .. Short off

Careful handling of that note, with PR67 grade it shows that a crisp uncirculated condition makes for most of it's value following rarity. A soft fold, 'Dog ear' corner fold, a pencil mark or Banker's stamp will instantly half the collector's value.

This is really amazing and good to know, I wish I have one with me. It will have been a wonderful win

Who wouldn't, lol

At auction has consistently surpassed the average rate of inflation. It is evidence of the scarcity and historical significance of some collectible money, which can increase in value despite inflation.

Hey @trumpman, here is a little bit of BEER from @pixresteemer for you. Enjoy it!

Did you know that <a href='https://dcity.io/cityyou can use BEER at dCity game to buy cards to rule the world.

I saw a guy on Pawn Stars try to sell a $500K (?) bill I think. Whatever it was he was offered 3 times the number on the bill and he didn't wanna sell.

Wow what an awesome ticket looks great and what a cool historical context it has!

is it me or did good ol 'Merica kind of said fuck it let's just keep the same old theme of our banknotes and not do anything exciting with their design

😃 Could I check the nearby bush around my house whether I will find some old $10000 bills.

Wow! That's 27.25M PHP! First time to seen such a huge currency.

But will it be safe to have this high amount of money on note?

That is pretty nice luck
