Als Grund werden die regulatorischen Unsicherheiten in den USA angegeben. Wie gestern berichtet, weiß die USA selber nicht, wie sie Kryptos regulieren soll.
Die SEC weigerte sich bei einer Sitzung im Kongress zu antworten, ob Ethereum, die zweigrößte Kryptowährung der Welt, als Security (Wertpapier) oder Commodity (Rohstoff) reguliert ist.
Gleichzeitig geht die SEC gegen (USA-basierte) Krypto-Börsen vor und schickt ihnen "Wells Notices" und wirft ihnen vor, illegalen Wertpapierhandel zu betreiben.
@blocktrades bietet einen Swap-Service an, mit dem man HIVE gegen die wichtigsten Kryptowährungen unkompliziert tauschen kann.
Es werden keine Anlage- oder Zinsprodukte (DeFi) angeboten, das Swappen ist rein Krypto-2-Krypto und es wurde eine Registrierungspflicht (KYC) eingeführt.
Eigentlich sollte blocktrades auf der sicheren Seite sein. Was die SEC betreibt, ist jedenfalls ein Wahnsinn und schadet der US-Wirtschaft.
Was sagt ihr zu dieser Entwicklung? Hoffe, dass die Hive-Engine mittlerweile ausreichend dezentralisiert ist.

blocktrades.us no longer supports customers from the US.
The reason given is regulatory uncertainty in the US. As reported yesterday, the US itself does not know how to regulate crypto.
The SEC refused to answer at a Congressional meeting whether Ethereum, the world's second largest cryptocurrency, is regulated as a security or a commodity.
At the same time, the SEC is cracking down on (US-based) crypto exchanges, sending them "Wells Notices" and accusing them of illegal securities trading.
@blocktrades offers a swap service that allows you to easily exchange HIVE for major cryptocurrencies and vice versa.
No investment or interest products (DeFi) are offered, swapping is purely crypto-2-crypto and a registration requirement (KYC) has been introduced.
Actually, blocktrades should be on the safe side. Anyway, what the SEC is doing is insanity and hurts the US economy.
What do you think about the SEC crypto crackdown? Hope that Hive-Engine is sufficiently decentralized by now and won't be affected by the SEC.

Hive-Engine dezentralisiert?
Soviel ich weiß ist die überhaupt nicht dezentral. Lasse mich aber gerne vom Gegenteil überzeugen, was an der Hive-Engine dezentral sein soll!

Hive-Engine 2.0 ist open-source und wurde dezentralisiert, es gibt jetzt mehrere Witnesses ähnlich wie bei Hive und es gibt in der Zwischenzeit auch mehrere Exchange-Frontends (tribaldex, leodex und beeswap), aber die gepeggten Funds werden zentralisiert verwaltet und es gibt nicht so viele Witnesses.
Vielen Dank für das Update. Wenn die gepeggten Funds zentral verwaltet werden, können sie theoretisch gehackt werden.
Da sollten die Betreiber vielleicht doch noch eine dezentrale Lösung vielleicht finden.
Aber gut zu wissen, dass nun mehrere Witness die Engine am laufen halten und somit für Kontinuität sorgen.

Was für ein gigantischer Bockmist! Aber zum Glück gibt es über 200 weitere Jurisdiktionen weltweit und bei weitem nicht alle (und es werden laufend weniger) sind US-Schwerstverbrecher-Mafia-hörig und in manchen von denen gibt es auch Kryptobörsen.

Doch denke schon, sonst wäre ihnen die SEC ziemlich egal, denke ich.
Auch wenn man auf den Cayman Islands sitzt, kann einen der lange Arm der US-Regulatoren noch erreichen, wenn man sich mit amerikanischen Kunden einlässt.
I don't like the crackdown but I can't blame blocktrades either. It's dangerous to deal with US customers if they get cracked down on by the government. I hope we have better decentralized options that wouldn't be hit by the government but that is tough.

Crazy stuff, sad that blocktrades is no longer serving US clients. I wonder how the US citizens will take it if this crypto crack down continues for years. I might be looking at getting the hell out of the States if I were an American.

This behavior of the SEC is sad but the market will adapt, I have no doubt about that
Economically it's just going to hurt the US, they shouldn't be trying to regulate everything!
Wenn an einer Stelle ein Loch gestopft wird, entsteht an einer anderen Stelle ein anderes. Der Kryptospace ist technologisch mittlerweile so weit fortgeschritten, dass diese Regulierungsversuche nicht mehr zum gewünschten Ergebnis führen.
Sie erreichen damit lediglich eine Beschleunigung des Auffinden alternativer Wege, zuletzt sogar den Aufbau einer Schattenwirtschaft, in der erbrachte Leistungen direkt mit Kryptowährungen bezahlt werden.
Man sollte gar nicht mehr ins Fiatmoney zurückkehren. Dann können die soviel regulieren wie sie wollen und sich ihr grünes Toilettenpapier in den Allerwertesten schieben.
