Your patience may help you to save you from big loss. Currently market is down. Red color dominance in market. This is the time when you patience is tested. FOMO and FUD creates doubt in mind as a result people sell their assets cheaply without showing patience. This is the common problem with a majority of people. They don't bear the pressure and easily panic during crunch situation.
It is important to keep your coin intact when the market is down. I am not talking about holding shit coins, Only keep intact those coins which have good used case. Selling good used case is not a wise move. Selling at cheap price will give you a permanent loss. Always believe that good time will come. Show your patience and never do emotional decision. Time shall pass away but at the end our actions counts.
Same way, controlling emotion is important when the price of the coins pump up. Increase in price attract people to buy coins at cheap rate as a result many people fell in trap and buying coins at higher price from expected price. Just imagine people who bought BTC coins at $68,000. Now their investment is shrinked to 40% of the initial investment. BTC has a huge chance to rise again but even if you wait for the bullish run, it will block your asset for certain period of time. Blocking assets means no assets available for the further invstment which may affect your long term growth.

Sometimes it can take many years to achieve financial goals, but there are some people who do not cultivate patience and end up retiring because they want short-term results.
