Visiting the Simón Bolívar Training Ship, flagship of our nation! - Venezuela

Several weeks ago specifically on September 8 we celebrated in our beautiful Isla de Margarita, the day of the "Virgen del Valle" patron saint of the East of Venezuela and also patron saint of fishermen and sailors.

It is tradition that for this date the "School Ship" visits us. This ship, as its name indicates, was built to instruct the future officers of the Naval School of Venezuela in the art of navigation and seamanship, among them it is worth mentioning: Captains, Officers and Cadets.

This boat spends a large part of its time in Venezuelan waters, from there the future cadets receive their theoretical and practical classes on a daily basis, as well as do maintenance to all parts and pieces.

This boat is present on our island days before the date of the celebration of the patron saint, they come to honor her and in turn allow all the public who wishes to enter their facilities, on board there are cadets who make the tour explaining down to the smallest detail of the activities carried out there.

As usual, as soon as we found out that the ship was already on the coast of Margarita, specifically in the bay of Morro, we already wanted to visit it, but we know that the first days are very crowded, so we waited until the weekend before the celebration for the day. of the virgin and we got ready to go for a tour that we always do every year when they visit us.

My children love this tour, because living the experience of being on such a large ship with so much history to tell is simply wonderful.

The cadet who received us on this occasion explained to us that the ship has a space destined to receive daily classes and while one part is seeing the theory, the other part is doing maintenance on the entire ship. They have enough food to last for several days of navigation.

Talking with the cadet, he told us something super important, this ship was declared an Asset of Cultural Interest of the Nation and was built for the Venezuelan Navy, in Spain and launched at sea on November 21, 1979, however, it was not but until August 12, 1980, when it was assigned to the Venezuelan Navy and from there it became the flagship for the training of future Venezuelan sailors by training them in the areas corresponding to navigation on the high seas.

It has a total length of 82.5 meters, a beam of 10.6 meters and a draft of 4.4 meters. It has accommodation for 212 people. This vessel has more than 40 years of experience traveling the world's oceans with visits to more than 80 countries, including some 20 countries in the Americas and eight on the European continent.

As a curious fact we have in the bow the image of a woman who covers her body with the national flag and armed with a sword to destroy the oppressive chains. It is said that it symbolizes the freedom consolidated in the Naval Battle.

Another super important thing is that this boat has three poles that are crossed where the 23 sails are deployed, they serve to direct the navigation during the long trips they make in Venezuelan and international waters. Likewise, it has an engine that serves as a displacement in water in case the sails are not deployed or for its use in a mixed way, that is to say engine and sail.

As always it was a great pleasure to visit this ship. His adventures are always worth hearing about on tours ranging up to 4 months.

The next day we came back later to see the turning on of the lights, since they do a kind of ceremony, after all the crew members are on board they immediately turn on the lights, it is very beautiful, it is one of the things that my children enjoy the most in this happens after 6:30pm or 7:00pm and many people go just to appreciate this beautiful spectacle.

Dear friends, I hope you have enjoyed this visit that I shared with you with all my love. Thank you for reading my post and supporting me in the stories of my family life. All photos are my property. Banner and dividers created by @floreudys79 with Canvas App.

Wow it was indeed a weekend full of fun and excitement with the family

That's right, my friend @annymharie, I always characterized myself by including many outings in my children's routine, it's something that I love and my children do too, today I regret not being able to travel as crowded as my husband and I did when we were dating, because the situation I complicate and they have not been able to enjoy those wonderful trips that we made. That is why whenever I can here on the Island there is no rest and I take them out so that they know and enjoy the wonders that our charming Island offers us. Thanks for stopping by my friend and reading my post. Greetings and blessings.

The sight is amazing. It must be fun out there. The weather also seems pretty nice which is definitely a plus point.
Enjoy.

If being on the deck of the ship is something extremely rewarding, seeing how these sailors make life on it is very interesting. Not to mention the landscape, beautiful and spectacular weather. It really is very nice this type of activities and you have to take advantage of them when you have the opportunity. Thanks for stopping by and leaving your comment friend @rem-steem. Greetings and blessings.

I had that experience once. It's kind of a lifetime memory.
Have a good day.

Of course, those beautiful things that happen to us in life and remain engraved forever in our memories.
