Blue, green and blue-green

No water, no life. No blue, no green.

- Sylvia Earle -

I've been fortunate enough to have travelled all over the world, to have seen amazing places and had incredible experiences. Some have been in cities and based around man-made places and, as a man keen on learning things and history, I've loved that immensely, but it's natural places I truly love and which inspires me.

Nature is a vibrant palette of colours and they're all represented from deserts, sunsets that set the sky alight, to lush, dark places deep in the rain forest where light struggles to penetrate. There's lakes and oceans, savannah, rolling hills full of flowers, snow-covered mountains and open plains...The planet provides it all and out there, amongst it, is where I feel complete, comfortable and content.

It was with this in mind I decided to do a couple of #weekend-engagement topics around nature this week, and in particular the blue's and greens I love so much. You can take a look at week 120 here if you'd like to find the writing prompts and guidelines for entry.

I decided I'd better throw a photo or two into the mix myself and gathered a few here, all my own, of a few places I've been and enjoyed. I decided to do a mix of blue and green separately and then show them together as nature does those two colours together better than any human could.

The blue

  • London and Weymouth - United Kingdom
  • Milford Sound and Queenstown and in the air, New Zealand
  • Port Lincoln, Semaphore and across the road from my house, Australia.

It was very difficult to narrow my photos down as I have so many and I have so little time so I ended up just randomly clicking on a few to tell the blue story.

The green

  • Tiverton (Knightshayes Court), United Kingdom
  • Lennox Head and Nightcap National Park, New South Wales, Australia
  • Lake Gunn nature walk and Falls Creek Waterfall, New Zealand
  • The cattle farm I cull on and across the road from my house, Australia

The blue-green

Lastly, and my favourite collage, is the blue-green. There's something about these colours together that make me smile and feel very happy. I don't know if others feel the same way but it certainly works for me.

  • Wardour Castle, Boscastle, Dartmoor and Tintagel, United Kingdom
  • Mt Crawford Forest, Adelaide Hills Australia
  • The cattle farm I cull on, Adelaide Hills Australia
  • Barossa Valley, South Australia
  • Flinders Ranges, mid-north South Australia.

I have so many memories gained in beautiful places around the world and so many images to help bring me back to them. But I don't have to go far to find such enjoyments. The park the beach, a short drive to a local forest nearby...Sure, I love remote and wilderness places but if I can't get there when I want to I find a substitute.

You see, I feel that life is too short to hold out for a big moment when there's so many little ones to be found and that can provide a deep satisfaction every bit as enjoyable as the places in this post.

You are truly fortunate to have enough funds to travel to the place you like to go to. Thus, experiencing the beauty of this world will make you a changed man and gives you a wide array of points of view about life. I love your photos sir Galen. Especially the green ones.

The funds are always a problem, I mean having them. Still, travel is important to me and so I work hard to provide for it. I've been fortunate to have places myself into a position that has permitted some travel and I'll go again; I'm planning a trip at the moment actually.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting.

This resonated with me so much, I have travelled to quite a few places as well and been so lucky to get to explore so many beautiful places.

You see, I feel that life is too short to hold out for a big moment when there's so many little ones to be found and that can provide a deep satisfaction every bit as enjoyable as the places in this post.

This above, this is what it is all about. Being able to see the beauty everywhere.
Loved this post xxxx

Hey there, I hope you're well.

It's not until one has the ability to find beauty all around, in the smallest of things, that life starts to open up and gain depth, in my opinion anyway. It's all there to see, we just need to notice it right?

Have a great rest of the weekend. 😊

You know... your voice is so different when you write about nature. It's clear as day that's where you feel most "you" and at peace.

Very soothing tone in the post, you made me breathe a bit and the photos are just gorgeous. My favourite colour(s) as well.

Specifically blue. And the sky in yours is the closest I've seen to our African sky in summer. It's breathtaking...

I took a pic of it a while ago because... well... blue. Yours kick this one's ass big time, but with the aim of sharing and caring, connecting and to life!

And an open sky...

p.s. your blue ones are my faves. Really good all round but the blue... ❤️

I think, despite the obvious differences South Africa and Australia can be remarkably similar. We were all once connected as Gondwana "supercontinent" after all right? This picture of yours, looks like a gum tree. I have many similar pictures who h, side by side, would look like they're taken in the same place.

Thanks for your comment and yes, I understand that I am almost a different person when it comes to nature, wilderness and remote places. Hmm, different but the same, just...more me.

I didn't consider that. A supercontinent.

Of course! Makes sense.

Does it? Yes we have them here, I think. Gum trees.

I hear you in full. I'm also more me, barefoot, out there. Busy working on making that more permanent now...

Have a beautiful Sunday my friend and stay you. 🌼

Really amazing photos. Especially the blues!

Well, I have to admit. That's pretty damn close to two photographs. :)

They are of course, magnificent photographs. I think I like blue the best. Maybe.

Well, I have to admit. That's pretty damn close to two photographs.

Someone else said that, but considering it's just a post and not eligible for entry and judging for my #weekend-engagement concept it doest matter much.

All great memories and I'm glad I've had them. I think about all of the things I've done in the past which helps me plan for the present and future.

First off, I get the difference. Just a little needle for the Jeffe. Cause I can.

Second, I really get the 'where I've been' and where do I go thing. In doing my post I realized that Black Canyon of the Gunnison needs to be moved up into the 'near current' list. It really is a wonderful place.

I'd be happy to have the chance to ride with you bro.

I feel the same way when I see blue-green landscapes. These colors make me calm and happy at the same time. You made a collage of beautiful photos.

Hi there, thanks for dropping by and commenting. Blue and Green typifies nature for me and I love it. Clearly you're the same.

Wow the photos are so nice! Can't stop looking at them all day!

It was fun to pick them out and remember all the moments, the places I took them. I'm glad you like them also.

Stunning photography, whether blue or green it makes for sweet memories, good times under bright skies.

@tipu curate

There's a bunch of amazing memories there and aim had an enjoyable time choosing them for this post. 😊

Yup those dazzling blue skies and water, unlike most of our rivers being brown.

Limited us to two photographs !LOLZ

OK next time two collages or three.....

Photography with whichever camera you using pulls up good detail too.

Well, I limited the photos as I thought many from certain parts of the world may not have many available and didn't want to make it awkward for them. Considering this isn't an entry to the concept that is eligible for judging, just a post, it makes no difference.

Yeah running the show one never enters, pulling your leg to see reaction....

Oh the places around the world with crystal clear waters are eye candy!

Chill and have a great weekend.

I figured there was some leg pulling going on. 🤔😉

🙃always keep you on your toes.... Have a great Sunday evening...

Greetings, if I had your gallery of images I wouldn't be able to select just one for publication either. They are so beautiful each one that it hurts to delete and leave some out.

I can't even choose between the blue, green or blue-green group. They are all amazing. You are lucky and blessed to have been able to see so many perfect creations of our nature. The earth is truly a magical place.

Would that many would appreciate their surroundings as you do! What a blessing.

I hope one day to visit New Zealand, UK and especially Australia. I can't wait to see it.

Greetings and thank you for your images, simply, a true gift 🙏🤗.

Thanks for taking a look and commenting, I appreciate both.

I've been fortunate in life to have had the right attitude when it came to work and investment which has allowed me to travel around the place. I plan to travel some more as well because it has provided me some of the best experiences of my life. Fortunately I have some photos to remember it by and I look at them often.

I hope you're able to travel as well and that you make it to Australia among other places. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

So funny - when I read your prompts on Friday I was like hmm, I think I would combine the blue and the green into one post. And here you are 😁.

Isn't it great to have been to so many great places and bring back the photos and memories?

They say great minds think alike, and here's proof!

And yes, I love the fact I've worked hard enough in life to find the ability to travel extensively; it has deepened my enjoyment of life.

I have so many memories gained in beautiful places around the world and so many images to help bring me back to them.

You're so blessed with good health and in financial aspects as well wonderful places around to travel with. How I wish I could visit every wonderful places around our place but sometimes I just think I can do it only in my dream.

Indeed, without blue, there's no green. Without water, there is no life.

Thanks for sharing it with us @galenkp.

I have worked hard for both, health and financial, and that's allowed me the chance to travel a lot. I guess it started when I was a kid because I had the right influences around me that taught a strong work ethic and the benefit of saving, and planning ahead financially.

I hope you get to travel someday.

Wow! right influences while we were still kids is really important too because it helps to mold us what will we become in the future.

These photos are really beautiful 😍.
I must admit I'm a bit envious, I wish I could travel to those natural places like you :)

Thank you, it's been an amazing aspect of my life to have travelled so extensively and there's more to come. Travelling is one of those things for me that means a lot.

Woah, you sure have been around well enough. I cannot even imagine how much.

This is one of the good reasons of having a camera right with you often, especially on travels. They help to capture not just photos, but the actual memories attached to the particular time or period the photos were taken.

There is a feel of equilibrum serenity that nature provides just at the sight of it. Just the sight of the beauty of nature can stimulate feelings of peace and happiness. And being in the presense of such makes memories tied to them last much longer, if not forever.

Truth be told, no one present colors as well as nature does. Nature even does really well in mixing colors together better than any human ever could.

These are really beautiful photos. I fell in love with the first collage (the blues), then even more with the second one (the greens), and then the sight of the blue-green hit differently.

Nature is beautiful!

Yeah, I've been to a lot of places for sure, within Australia and abroad.

There is a feel of equilibrium serenity

This is one of the aspects of nature I like the best.

Nature truly is beautiful as you say.

Darn. Love those shots and colors.. But have you been to places in Asia? I do have a lot of blue and green too in my gallery..

I've been all over Asia as it's so close to Australia. I liked Vietnam a lot, but Malaysia and Thailand also hold nice memories.

You can visit HK too.. A lot of beautiful places to explore in the countryside

Wuaoo simply beautiful, no words, what spectacular photos. 😍

Sometimes words aren't needed right? 🙃

Yes, that feeling when you realize how boring your life is. I'm talking about me! 😅 !LOLZ

Haha, well I have one of those too, a boring life...I just take notice of the little things that make it less so, try to engage with them as much as I can and hopefully they start to touch at the edges to make my life a little more awesome than boring. 😁

Certainly the natural sites, like the ones shown, are really so beautiful. I congratulate you, @galenkp for visiting such beautiful places, that so wonderful tropical jungle and spectacular photographs. Successes in such a beautiful population sobre Australia.

I've always managed to find something beautiful no matter where on the planet I am, even in the most unlikely of places. I guess the trick is being open to it and actively seeking it. These places, well, it wasn't hard to find it here.

Thanks for your comment.

Hello good afternoon! What wonderful photos and landscapes... You have to know Venezuela so you can keep in photos also wonderful places....
These photos are to mount in a picture in the living room of a beach house....

untitled.gif

I've heard the wilderness areas of Venezuela are quite spectacular. It's a pity the country has the issues it does, I think it would be a nice place to visit otherwise.

Yes, Venezuela has beautiful places: Los Roques, Merida, Angel Falls, Morrocoy, La Tortuga and so on.

The problems of this country have slowed down tourism, it is true. Before we used to see many foreigners visiting, happy with our land and gastronomy.

But it is never too late to get to know...
I am an excellent tourist guide in my country.

IMG_20220917_101439_1.jpg

Well, if I ever make it over that way all give you a holler and maybe you could show me around a bit huh?

Those are some top-notch photos. And well, great places to go.

All very treasured memories which scrolling through the photos helps deepen. I want to get back to these places and some I certainly will. Thanks for commenting.

My best wishes on that. It must be great to have the means to go to such wonderful places. Also those photos are amazing. It almost feel like I'm there staring at the beauty on green and the calm of blue.

Greens and blues, as I show in this post, relax me and energise me concurrently which sounds odd I guess. I find peace there and feel inspired about life I guess I mean.

I've worked so hard in my life, pushed the limits of endurance physically, emotionally and mentally and that's combined to give me the ability to enjoy a few things. I guess the greatest opportunity I've had is one that comes from the inside that allows me to find beautiful things all around me, no matter where I am.

I get the idea. That's what I felt looking at the sea this morning. Pretty cool therapy.

😊✅

The pictures are so beautiful, I need to come to take a photography lesson from you. There's no green without blue. I guess the two represent nature and compliments each other.

Thank you for saying so. I think the location itself helps, I just point the camera and press the button. 😊

Amazing view, thank you for sharing the beauty of the world on the other side @galenkp

You're welcome, thanks for taking a look.

Wow! How does it feel to travel around the world? Im happy you had that my friend.
I love the pictures that you shared. I am hoping to join. Have a great day

It feels amazing to travel to new places, see amazing things and to meet new people, I'd recommend it. Travel has been one of the highlights of my life.

Have a great day.

That's good to know. Thanks for entertaining my question. Maybe one day I'll try travelling locally first.

And yeah, expenses are what I was afraid of on travelling

Too beautiful, I couldn't choose just one. I hope you don't think of an engagement like this 🤣🤣

Beautiful indeed, the photos for sure, but the moments were the most beautiful.

I am inspired by the photos that you shared. The color blue and green colors are very significant for me as a human. Thank you so much for sharing this concept. 💚💙

You're welcome, I am pleased you liked it and took the time to visit my post in the first place.

You are amazing, and it will always be my pleasure to read all your post :) More power @galenkp 😊

You’ve been quite the explorer, I’m jealous lol.
The blue-green is my favorite, it seems so peaceful. I could picture myself laying there in oneness with mother nature 😍

I've been to a lot of places, all over the world. I'm fortunate to have had the chance, and put myself in a position to make it happen.

Definitely, that's the goal.

I like the blue also, sky and water, but add in the green and the blue tends to pop a little more right?
