History as a feat of freedom is the dominant mark of all Moderna and contemporary history.
And in my country Venezuela this has been the case, starting with independence and democracy in the 20th century and I aspire that this is the case as far as this challenge is going in the middle of the 21st century in all aspects of the economy and social life, culture and politics that we had achieved in the past.
Venezuela was a country of positive reference not only for its prosperous economy and opportunities but for its democracy and social, cultural, open, kind, generous stability. All this began to change in the negative (1999) and in the last decade, catastrophically and in free fall. We all know them, and almost all of us have suffered them directly.
The country of immigrants became a country of emigrants, almost 8 million, many minors and many born abroad, it is a national identity that asks for their homeland of origin or the homeland of their parents.
Perhaps, some will return, others will come for a family visit, others will hold their dual citizenship, others will die abroad, others will deny the history that has been written in the past, each and every one with their destiny and decisions.
If I had the opportunity to avoid the dystopian world for my country, it is that we close this cycle of involution and destruction, if I could improve the future that is always changing, recover democracy, and an economy of growth, opportunities and well-being.
A country with a future and a future, and that every Venezuelan, no matter where they live, can feel proud of the people, our enriching culture and our achievements.
The recent past weighs on us, I look at the people around me walking with invisible burdens of pain, of a drama that almost all Venezuelan families live, but this that we live can and must be overcome and I think we are not so far from opening a new horizon of hope for everyone...Amen, 🙏 so be it.
