My Perfect $10 Weekend Plan

Honestly, I wish you had asked me this question a few months ago 😅 because back then, the exchange rate was way higher—over ₦1,500 to $1. But right now, it has dropped to around ₦1,445 per dollar. So if i had $10 to spend this weekend, that would give me about ₦14,450 to work with. It’s not a huge amount, but it’s enough to do something fun if I plan it well.

So, what would I actually do with that money for entertainment? After thinking about it, I’d definitely go to the cinema to watch a movie.

To be honest, the last time I went to the cinema was way back when I was still in secondary school. I and my sister went on holiday to my brother’s house and then on a particular day, we decided to go to the cinemas to see a movie. I still remember that day clearly.

Before going in, we paid around ₦1,000 for the ticket, and they gave us a Pepsi and a pack of popcorn. The particular movie we watched was Tarzan, and I can still remember how happy I felt. Everything about that day was so fun—the thrill of watching a movie with so many people and the darkness , the laughter, the gasps during action scenes, even the little chats with friends afterwards. It was actually not just about the movie itself; it was the whole experience that made it interesting.

So if I had $10 to spend now, I’d love to relive something like that. I’d pick a good cinema nearby, probably one that’s not too expensive but still has that nice atmosphere. I’d go for an action movie because that’s my favourite genre—especially American action films. If it involves someone like Kevin Hart, that would be perfect because his movies are always funny and entertaining. Or Jason Statham—his action scenes - excite me a lot. I can actually already imagine sitting there with popcorn in one hand, a cold drink in the other, just fully enjoying myself.

Movie tickets are not always very expensive and could cost less than 10,000naira, so i believe that with the money, I could easily get a ticket and still have enough left for snacks, which honestly completes the cinema experience. It’s not like I’d be going for something fancy or over-the-top, but it’s something that would genuinely make me happy.

So yeah, if I had $10 for entertainment this weekend, my plan would be to head to the cinema, watch a good action movie, enjoy some popcorn and a drink, and just have a chill, fun time with some of my friends.
