¿What does punctuality mean to you and how do you think people perceive and respond to it?
For me, punctuality is a virtue that allows us to always be on time for any event and occasion. Being punctual makes us responsible people and earns us the respect of the people who are waiting for us.
I have several anecdotes regarding punctuality. I remember working with a colleague who had to arrive first thing in the morning and I had to arrive an hour later. The truth is that that day we had an event with a lot of people. I was calm because she was supposed to arrive first. The truth is that she never arrived and when it was my turn to go in, the people who were there looked at me as if I was irresponsible for making them wait. Wow this bothered me a lot since I was on my schedule; of course the people who were there didn't know that. I didn't let this episode go and brought it to the attention of my other colleague. I really think that one should be punctual and responsible and if you could not arrive on time, let me know and I solved it by coming in first thing in the morning.
Another anecdote that I remember is that one day my current husband asked me out and told me that he was going to pick me up at a certain time and he did not show up on time. I immediately called off the date. I don't like to be kept waiting 😃.
For me, punctuality is something that has a lot to do with being a responsible person. I am always used to being on time. To do this, I take the necessary precautions. If I go by public transportation and I go to a remote place, I leave about an hour in advance. I like to leave everything arranged the day before, in order to save time and always arrive early.
When you are punctual you are respecting the people who are waiting for you and you definitely earn the respect of others.
