Let's Go Get Some Fresh Meat

So it happens I'm away from the noise and aggression and back into a cave to experience life in its very own nature. And if its to be lived with one person I'll have to confess this now(sorry jack) I'm going with my partner not my best friend for obvious reasons and my best friend name also isn't jack.

It'll be nice to have him around though but he's bad with the cooking and can't calm me down after a bear fight if you know what I mean.

Firstly let's not forget there was a time that we humans lived and survived as a caveman. So I hope my caveman instinct kicks in along the way.

So assuming i wake up tomorrow and find myself in a nowhere cave with my cave girl(partner) right beside me. First thing I'll do is scan the surrounding area for any threat to our existence. The caveman priority you'll agree with me is his survival.

With the hope that no wolves and bears are around to tear us from limb to limb, I'll head out to the nearest flowing river to get water to drink and wash my face while she's probably still sleepy lol.

Now with my face clear and eyes wide open it's time to hunt with my rifle, axe and machete. I just checked my rifle from the last use and it seems its in a good condition else I put myself in great danger while hunting. With my rifle lock and loaded, I'm heading out into the wild.

But before that I'll have to notify my partner(cavegirl)so she doesn't wander around looking for me and that she can get ingredients(pepper and all that)needed for cooking.
Assuming what's needed for cooking is available, all she need to do while I'm away is to gather necessary ingredients for cooking which is around our abode.

You can see I love food. Yes I do and I have a inbuilt desire for fresh meat in particular. After that, its time to go get some(meat) as none will be delivered to me here.

I'm hoping to find a deer around here and luckily a bear. I bet that will last us for days but will be 10 times harder to kill compared to a deer which could go down in one shot. Bears rarely do even if you aim at the head. More reason I'm with my axe and machete incase we'll have to do it the old way and axe it to death.

But I doubt I'll find one around here because the big ones(predators) would probably be in the thick forest that is miles away which I dont think will be a good idea considering I'm alone and my partner of course knows nothing about hunting or holding a rifle talkless of taking a shot at another predator.

More reason to bring jack along, I bet we'll get to have a go at some wolves too(hopefully its an omega and not those that move in packs - the betas and alphas).

Anyways I won't be going to the thick forest and moreover I dont want to take too much time or be far from my abode where my partner is waiting, and probably hungry for some meat too just like I am. I hear a rumble emerging from my stomach indicating its time to eat. But then no meat for a lazy man so I'm going to keep searching for my prey.

After a long time of wandering and scanning around, i hear some movement about 500 meters from me and it looks like a young deer from afar but I'll have to get closer to have a clear look and to have a kill shot.

At this point I'll have to be swift and slow as my prey is having a go at something and I don't want to take his/her attention from it before i take my kill shot. I can't quite see what exactly it is eating but I guess its a plant.

Its now about 250 meters away from where I'm at and a kill shot is possible from here but its facing the other way which I need a kill in one shot and the head provide that chance than other parts so I'll have to move to the side to even have a glimpse of its head.

Fortunately I'm at a better position now and still unnoticed by the deer. With my rifle set and me on one knee ready to take the shot, the deer quickly noticed its being watched and stopped eating for a while and then continues again after some seconds. "Now is the perfect time" I said to myself before I hit the trigger, and bang, luckily the deer is down in one shot.

I immediately rushed to the deer, now looking lifeless beside the plant it was having a go at.

Despite all the challenges and wandering around, this caveman and his partner now has some fresh meat to eat for the day. I would have loved to hunt more but the sun is already up and this caveman needs something to energize him, so its back to my abode until probably the next day for another hunting.

On getting to the premise of our abode I could perceive the smoke and soup aroma from outside the cave, and I guess that's a good omen cause it means she's already making soup or something, but let's see what it is.

"Oh its a squirrel" I exclaimed. "Yes" she replied "I checked the traps you set around the cave and found it helpless so I decide to have a go at it before you get back. I hope you had a good hunt today my sunshine" yes of course I replied now laying down my rifle and sitting down to relax before having some fresh squirrel and a deer later on. Oh I didnt tell you about the traps earlier but then it won't be a trap if I did lol.

After some relaxing and fresh meat I head out to the river with a calabash to get water to drink and calm my thirst and nerve for the day till the next day.

And most of my days goes by like this but her? She does a lot of other stuffs apart from cooking. Like painting on the wall with animal blood, she said it was me on the wall, but I don't think I've ever seen someone who looks like that in my life. She also grows crops around the cave and thats how we spend our days - living, surviving, talking, eating, cuddling and then sleep until we have a young cave boy or girl to accompany us in the future but until then its just the two of us all summer and winter with little to no change to our routine.

I hope you had a nice time reading. Thanks to galen for this amazing prompt. until next time

Yes I did have a nice time reading but I'm not a fan of routine. If I were your cavegirl though, I'd definitely go hunting with you (for the fun of it but mostly to learn). I mean what if a bear or whatever wanders into our cave or just sees me all alone around, I'd prefer to defend myself than wait around for you to be my Knight in shining armour before dying 🥲. Haha kudos!

So you'd rather be the knight yourself. Thats understandable and I honestly would love to have her go hunting with me too but what do I do when she doesnt want to. In reality she's like that tbh - she wants all the pampering and care which of course isn't a thing for me.

But if it were you, like you said, then we can both learn a lot from the hunt and i bet it'll be more intereating than me going alone.
Cave women back then do go hunting too but it was only on rare occasions. It'll be impossible(at least for me) to have you hunt with a little one kicking from within. Lol

😄 of course not with that little one kicking.

Maybe she'd go if she understood that she could go hunting (not everyday) and still be pampered and cared for. Maybe you could entice her by saying she'd keep you company and that it'll be fun. Who knows? :)

Your content is nutritious, hahaha.

Thanks. Glad you could taste the feeling. Lol

But, what if you left your cave girl and a bear attacked her, what will she do? I suggest you also provide a gun for her. What do you think?

At first she is not one to shoot a gun tho I have tried to teach her how to but she kinda sticks with her knife(which is made for cutting meat) and I doubt that would ever be enough to take down a bear.

So without a gun nor an intention to attack she has two options - run towards me(screaming my name) or she finds somewhwre to hide until the bear leaves and find another prey to attack. It'll be a shame if she has a handgun and can't shoot one.

This is crazy

Of course it is, and I bet the real cave days were crazier. Sometimes the hunters never get back home, likewise those who take refuge in a cave, both are neither safe nor protected, but it is what it is.

More reason the cave life isnt nice at all and humans have to ditch that to find a safe space which is getting even more dangerous on a daily.

Life has to move on, weather the hunter gets back or not, or if his cave girl gets eaten by a bear or not.
