Stop being kind!

Hello everyone!

Since I got interested in one of the topics presented as #weekend-engagement today, might as well share my thoughts here.

The following question struck me the most.

If you could change one thing about someone close to you, who is it, what would you change and why?

In my previous blog, I shared about my family: my father, my mother, and my older sister.

Since 2011, when I started college, my sister decided to work abroad. We have a small family so what my father earns in carpentry is sufficient for our daily needs. But my sister decided to work abroad, away from us, because she wants to provide more for us. And until now, she has kept her promise, giving us a good and comfortable life.

Working abroad is truly a challenge for her, well, much more a struggle. She has to battle homesickness, not to mention she's a mama's girl. She has to take care of herself because we are not there to look after her if ever she gets sick. And you know how it pains me to see her not having enough rest, too exhausted, and even getting burned out. When the pandemic struck, we were alarmed. We kept telling her to keep herself safe. Furthermore, my sister had to miss celebrating special occasions with us like Christmas, New Year, birthdays, and my college graduation. Yeah. I absolutely wanted her to be at my graduation because it was not just my day, it was ours. Being able to graduate was the fruit of my sister's sacrifice.

My sister is one of a kind. She is chill, calm, kind, and doesn't hold grudges. It seems like if somebody has done wrong to her, she would not mind it, as long we are not physically harmed. She easily forgives and treats people as if they did not wrong her. She is extra patient and super kind. I wonder why she got it all when Heaven poured kindness on humanity.

To answer the question, what I want my sister to change is her being too kind that some, if not mostly, often abused her. Don't get me wrong, no one wants someone to be unkind, right? But for my sister, her kindness is too much. Imagine, she let somebody, not a neighbor, not a relative, nor a family member borrow a 6-digit amount of money from her and you know what happened? The person blocked my sister on all of her social media accounts. We told her to get her money back but she refused to. And this did not just happen once. To her, let them keep the money. Whatever they do, they will never succeed knowing that they owe someone. With what they've done, blessings will be elusive to them. These are her thoughts when somebody is indebted to her and doesn't have any plan of paying.

I want her to stop being extremely kind to the point that she forgets herself. She has to work tirelessly, battle with the distance from us, sacrifice and just let other people take her for granted. As a younger sister, I always remind her to take care and reward herself, save for future use, and invest. Because as a sister, what I want is for her to have the life that she deserves. She is not getting young anymore, so it's for her to think of herself. She has to start being kind to herself.

We always have to choose ourselves gyud maam.

Sometimes you really need to know when to be kind and when to say no politely. 🙂 but your sister really has a big heart mam!

True maam @wittyzell ☺️
I just hope when one day she'll put limitations to her kindness.
