Improving one's self

I just like to have a go at new things!

Hive, blockchain and blogging was something way outside my comfort zone as a life time tradie on the tools.

More recently my roof needed a lot of work and repairs, many other houses in the neighbourhood are the same age, condition and were getting revamped after 30 year of a harsh Australia climate.

Normally I would get 3 quotes before even tackling something I have never done but I had ball park figures from neighbour's who had where roofs repointed and painted and mine seemed bigger and in worse condition.

People said the job was too big to tackle by myself but I was not working so I had time to do some research and sus things out.

Luckily the internet and youtube gave me enough confidence to have a go myself.

I even did a few tests and trials knowing that if it did not work, I could pull the pin and get the proper contractors in.

First up I had to replace all the cracked tiles, then redo all the pointing that holds all the ridge capping tiles in place. My small old domestic high pressure cleaner got all the grit and Grim off the roof ready for painting. I could not get over how much old paint came off too.

Old school painting by hand has taken a while and I still have not totally finished but as I had the time I thought I could save a few more dollars and have more control.

All up another project almost done and some more skills learnt.
